But Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have raised my hand to Jehovah the Most High God, possessor of the heavens and earth,

that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, that you may not say, I have made Abram rich;

and I will make you swear by Jehovah the God of the Heavens and God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell;

And they said, We have certainly seen that Jehovah is with you. So we said, Let there now be an oath between us, between you and us; and let us make a covenant with you,

Now therefore, come, let us make a covenant, you and me, and let it be a witness between you and me.

The God of Abraham, the God of Nahor, and the God of their father judge between us. And Jacob swore by the fear of his father Isaac.

You shall fear Jehovah your God and serve Him, and swear by His name.

Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by Jehovah, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show kindness to my father's house, and give me a true token,

may Jehovah do so and much more to Jonathan. But if it pleases my father to do you evil, then I will disclose it in your ear and send you away, that you may go in peace. And Jehovah be with you as He was with my father.

And Jonathan again caused David to swear, because he loved him; for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, since we have both sworn in the name of Jehovah, saying, May Jehovah be between you and me, and between your seed and my seed, forever. So he rose up and departed, and Jonathan went into the city.

Therefore swear now to me by Jehovah that you will not cut off my seed after me, and that you will not destroy my name from my father's house.

And David swore to Saul. And Saul went home, and David and his men went up to the stronghold.

And David said to him, Can you bring me down to this troop? So he said, Swear to me by God that you will neither kill me nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring you down to this troop.

And you shall swear, Jehovah lives, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in Him, and in Him they shall glory.

Moreover I call God as witness against my soul, that to spare you I came no more to Corinth.

For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute.

And Abimelech took sheep, oxen, and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham; and he restored Sarah his wife to him.
