when He made firm the clouds above, when He made strong the fountains of the deep,

when He gave to the sea its limit, that the waters should not pass beyond His command; when He engraved the foundations of the earth,

He binds up the waters in His thick clouds, yet the clouds are not split open under them.

He sends the springs into the valleys, they flow among the hills.

Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens!

If the clouds are full of rain, they empty upon the earth; and if the tree falls toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it shall be.

Then God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear: thus.

And God said, Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and the fruit tree producing fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth: thus.

and let them be for luminaries in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth: thus.

Then God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: beasts, creeping things and living things of the earth, each according to its kind: thus.

So the men marveled, saying, Of what sort is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?
