You shall make for yourself judges and officers in your cities, which the Lord your God gives you in [your] tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment;

they shall not pervert judgment, nor favor persons, nor receive a gift; for gifts blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

And the men of Israel said to Gideon, Rule, my lord, over us, both you and your son, and your son's son; for you have saved us out of the hand of Midian.

And Gideon said to them, I will not rule, and my son shall not rule among you; [but] the Lord shall rule over you.

And he appointed judges in all the strong cities of Judah, city by city.

And he said to the judges, Take good heed what you do: for you judge not for man, but for the Lord, and with you are matters of judgment.

that I gave charge to my brother, and Hanani the ruler of the palace, over Jerusalem; for he was a true man, and one that feared God beyond many.

I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing according to partiality.

You that mount a donkey at noon day, you that sit on the judgment seat, and walk by the roads of them that sit in judgment by the way. Declare,

And he had thirty-two sons riding on thirty-two colts, and they had thirty-two cities; and they called them Jair's towns until this day in the land of Gilead.

And he had forty sons, and thirty grandsons, that rode upon seventy colts: and he judged Israel eight years.
