even to his feet, and said, On me, my lord, be my wrong. Let your servant speak in your ears, and hear the words of your servant.

And Judah drew near him, and said, I pray, Sir, let your servant speak a word before you, and be not angry with your servant, for you are next to Pharaoh.

And the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him.

Let now your servants speak before you, and let them seek for our lord a man skilled to play on the harp; and it shall come to pass when an evil spirit comes upon you, and he shall play on his harp, that you shall be well, and he shall refresh you.

And one of his servants answered and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, and he understands playing [on the harp], and the man is prudent, and a warrior, and wise in speech, and the man is handsome, and the Lord is with him.

And Jesse took a homer of bread, and a bottle of wine, and one kid of the goats, and sent them by the hand of his son David to Saul.

And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David stand before me, for he has found favor in my eyes.

And David said to Abishai and to all his servants, Behold, my son who came forth out of my bowels seeks my life; still more now may the son of Benjamin: let him curse, because the Lord has told him.

And the Lord caused His anger to burn forth again in Israel, and [Satan] stirred up David against them, saying, Go, number Israel and Judah.

And the Lord said to him, In what way? And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You shall deceive him; yea, and you shall prevail: go forth, and do so.

And the devil stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.

And the Lord God smelled an aroma of sweetness, and the Lord God having considered, said, I will never again curse the earth, because of the works of men, because the imagination of man is intently bent upon evil things from his youth, I will never again smite all living flesh as I have done.

And I will lay your cities waste, and I will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell the savor of your sacrifices.

Alleluia. Blessed are the blameless in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.

For they that work iniquity have not walked in His ways.

O that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes.

I will give You thanks with uprightness of heart, when I have learned the judgments of Your righteousness.

For he rejoices in all things which God hates, and he is ruined by reason of impurity of soul.

a heart devising evil thoughts, and feet hastening to do evil, [are hateful to God].

Deliver not a servant into the hands of his master, lest he curse you, and you be utterly destroyed.

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach a gospel to you other than what we preached to you, let him be accursed.

As we have said before, and I say again just now, if anyone preaches a gospel to you other than what you received, let him be accursed.

Oh that those who disturb you would even castrate themselves!

Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lord repay him according to his works;

And the Lord shall scatter you among all nations, and you shall be left few in number among all the nations, among which the Lord shall bring you.

I am a peaceable one of the strong ones in Israel; but you seek to destroy a city and a mother city in Israel: why do you seek to ruin the inheritance of the Lord?
