And they took their portions from him to themselves; but Benjamin's portion was five times as much as the portions of [the others]. And they drank and were merry with him.

And when their heart was merry, then they said, Call Sampson out of the prison house, and let him play before us. And they called Sampson out of the prison house, and he played before them; and they struck him with the palms of their hands, and set him between the pillars.

So they two sat down together and ate and drank. And the father of the young woman said to her husband, Now stay the night, and let your heart be merry.

And the man rose up to depart, he and his concubine, and his young man. But his father in law, the father of the young woman said to him, Behold now, the day has declined toward evening; lodge here, and let your heart rejoice; and you shall rise early tomorrow for your journey, and you shall go to your home.

And they [were] comforting their heart, when behold, the men of the city, sons of transgressors, surrounded the house, knocking at the door. And they spoke to the old man, the owner of the house, saying, Bring out the man who came into your house, that we may know him.

And Absalom commanded his servants, saying, Take notice when the heart of Amnon shall be merry with wine, and I shall say to you, Smite Amnon, and kill him: fear not; for is it not I that command you? Be courageous, and be valiant.

Now on the seventh day the king, being merry, told Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Zethar, Abagtha, and Carcas, the seven eunuchs, servants of King Artaxerxes,

and wine makes glad the heart of man, to make his face cheerful with oil; and bread strengthens man's heart.

A man has nothing good to eat, and to drink, and to show his soul [as] good in his trouble. This also I saw, that it is from the hand of God.

I know that there is no good in them, except [for a man] to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

Also, every man who shall eat and drink, and see good in all his labor, [this] is a gift of God.

Then I praised mirth, because there is no good for a man under the sun, but to eat, and drink, and be merry. And this shall attend him in his labor all the days of his life, which God has given him under the sun.

Go, eat your bread with mirth, and drink your wine with a joyful heart; for now God has favorably accepted your works.

Men prepare bread for laughter, and wine and oil that the living should rejoice; but to money all things will humbly yield obedience.

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.

And do not get drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
