And Jacob called the name of that place Peniel; for, [he said], I have seen God face to face, and my life was preserved.

And [God] said, You shall not be able to see My face; for no man shall see My face and live.

to destroy nations greater and stronger than you before your face, to bring you in, to give you their land to inherit, as you have this day.

For what man [is there,] who has heard the voice of the living God, speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we [have heard], and shall live?

And I said, Woe is me, for I am pricked to the heart; for being a man, and having unclean lips, I dwell in the midst of a people having unclean lips; and I have seen with my eyes the King, the Lord of hosts.

No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, He who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared [Him].

And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified about Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form.
