And if there shall be in the midst of you a poor [man] from among your brothers, in one of your cities in the land, which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, neither shall you by any means close up your hand from your brother who is in need.

Take heed to yourself that there be not a secret thing in your heart- an iniquity, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is approaching. And your eye shall be evil to your brother that is in need, and you shall not give to him, and he shall cry against you to the Lord, and there shall be great sin in you.

For the poor shall not fail off your land, therefore I charge you to do this thing, saying, You shall surely open your hands to your poor brother, and to him that is distressed upon your land.

He that has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will recompense to him according to his gift.

Break your bread to the hungry, and lead the unsheltered poor to your house; if you see one naked, clothe [him], and you shall not disregard the relations of your own seed.

Then shall you cry, and God shall hearken to you; while you are yet speaking He will say, Behold, I am here. If you remove from you the band, and the stretching forth of the hands, and murmuring speech;

He answered and said to them, "He who has two shirts, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise."

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet on account of you He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

but by way of equality, that now at the present time your abundance [may supply] their need, that their abundance also may supply your need, in order that there may be equality.

As it is written, "He [who ga]there[d] much did not have too much, and he [who ga]there[d] little had no lack."

Therefore I thought it necessary to urge the brothers, that they should go before [me] to you, and should arrange in advance your generous gift, which you had previously promised, [that] this would be ready, thus as a blessing and not as grudgingly given.

Let each [one give] just as he decides in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

just as it is written: "He has dispersed, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever."

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to put their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who provides all things richly for us to enjoy,

to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, sharing,

But do not forget the doing of good and generosity, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

A righteous man has pity for the lives of his cattle, but the bowels of the ungodly are unmerciful.

He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even he has made his prayer abominable.

If anyone claims, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how is it possible [for him] to love God whom he has not seen?

Everyone that believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone that loves Him that begot also loves him that is begotten of Him.
