[ 3:7] And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes to look upon and beautiful to contemplate, and having taken of its fruit she ate, and she gave to her husband also with her, and they ate.

[ 6:3] that the sons of God, having seen the daughters of men, that they were beautiful, took to themselves wives of all whom they chose.

And it came to pass toward evening, that David arose off his couch, and walked on the roof of the king's house, and saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

I made a covenant with my eyes, and I will not think upon a virgin.

Turn away my eyes that I may not behold vanity; revive me in Your way.

For if you should set your eyes on bowls and cups, you shall afterwards go more naked than a pestle.

An envious man makes haste to be rich, and knows not that the merciful man will have the mastery over him.

But I say to you, that whoever looks at a woman in order to lust after her has already committed adultery [with] her in his heart.

If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is better for you that one of your members be lost, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Because everything that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not from the Father but is from the world.

And the beginning of his kingdom was Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

You shall not covet your neighbor's wife; you shall not covet your neighbor's house; nor his field, nor his servant, nor his maid, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor any of his cattle, nor whatever belongs to your neighbor.

You shall burn with fire the graven images of their gods: you shall not covet [their] silver, neither shall you take to yourself gold from them, lest you should offend thereby, because it is an abomination to the Lord your God.

And Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, near the threshing floor of Ahab king of Samaria.

And Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, Give me your vineyard, and I will have it for a garden of herbs, for it [is] near my house; and I will give you another vineyard better than [that] one; or if it please you, I will give you money, the price of this your vineyard, and I will have it for a garden of herbs.

And Gehazi the servant of Elisha said, Behold, my Lord has spared this Syrian Naaman, so as not to take of his hand what he has brought; as the Lord lives, I will surely run after him, and take something from him.

And [Gehazi] said, All is well: my master has sent me, saying, Behold, now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from Mount Ephraim; please give them a talent of silver, and two changes of clothes.

And he came to a secret place, and took them from their hands, and laid them up in the house, and dismissed the men.

From where [have you come], Gehazi? And Gehazi said, Your servant has not been anywhere. And Elisha said to him, Did not my heart go with you, when the man returned from his chariot to meet you? And now you have received silver, and now you have received clothing, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and oxen, menservants, and maidservants.

Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evils.

And He said to them, "Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known lust unless the law had said, "You shall not covet."

But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me every kind of lust. For apart from the law sin [was] dead.

But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

Therefore put to death your members on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.

But those desiring to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many senseless and harmful lusts which sink men in destruction and perdition.

For the love of money is a root of all evils, of which some [by] aspiring have strayed away from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Let [your] way of life [be] without loving money, being satisfied with what you have. For He Himself has said, "By no means shall I desert you, nor in any way shall I forsake you;"

They have left behind the straight way and gone astray, having followed after the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

Keep your heart with the utmost care, for out of these are the issues of life.

They meditated troubles, and wrought wickedness on their beds, and they put it in execution with the daylight; for they have not lifted up their hands to God.

And they desired fields, and plundered orphans, and oppressed families, and spoiled a man and his house, even a man and his inheritance.

Then lust, when it conceives, gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.

And David said to Uriah, Go to your house, and wash your feet. And Uriah departed from the house of the king, and a portion [of meat] from the king followed him.

And they brought David word, saying, Uriah has not gone down to his house. And David said to Uriah, Have you not come from a [long] journey? Why have you not gone down to your house?

And David said to Uriah, Remain here today also, and tomorrow I will let you go. So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the day following.

And the morning came, and David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.

And it came to pass while Joab was watching against the city, that he set Uriah in a place where he knew that valiant men were.

And he came to a secret place, and took them from their hands, and laid them up in the house, and dismissed the men.

And he went in himself and stood before his master. And Elisha said to him,

Because you have said, We have made a covenant with Hades, and agreements with death; if the rushing storm should pass, it shall not come upon us; we have made falsehood our hope, and by falsehood shall we be protected.

Woe to them that deepen their counsel, and not by the Lord. Woe to them that take secret counsel, and whose works are in darkness, and they say, Who has seen us? And who shall know us, or what we do?

For there is nothing covered that shall not be unveiled, and [nothing] secret that shall not be made known.
