There is a way which seems to be right with men, but the ends of it reach to the depths of hell.

There are ways that seem to be right to a man, but the end of them looks to the depth of hell.

Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, [more] shall be given to him; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has shall be taken away from him."

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool, that he may become wise.

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. Thus the tongue is set among our members, as that which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

Be not as the horse and mule, which have no understanding; [but you must] constrain their jaws with bit and bridle, lest they should come near to you.

Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile.

For the end, A Song of David, to Jeduthun. I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue; I set a guard on my mouth, while the sinner stood in my presence.

I was dumb, and humbled myself, and kept silence from good [words]; and my grief was renewed.

Set a watch, O Lord, on my mouth, and a strong door about by lips.

By a multitude of words you shall not escape sin, but if you refrain your lips you will be prudent.

The mouth of the righteous drops wisdom, but the tongue of the unjust shall perish.

A good [man] shall eat of the fruits of righteousness, but the lives of transgressors shall perish before their time.

He that keeps his own mouth keeps his own life, but he that is hasty with his lips shall bring terror upon himself.

The tongue of the wise knows what is good, but the mouth of the foolish speaks evil things.

[There is] an oracle upon the lips of a king, and his mouth shall not err in judgment.

An ungodly man entertains evil desires all the day, but the righteous is unsparingly merciful and compassionate.

Let no corrupt word proceed from your mouth, but only what is good for edification, that it may give grace to them that hear.

neither wickedness, nor foolish talk or coarse jesting, which are not proper, but rather thanksgiving.

Let your word always be with grace, having been seasoned with salt, to know how you ought to answer each [one].

For "He that desires to love life and see good days, let him stop his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking guile.

But become doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

take heed to yourself that your heart be not puffed up, and you transgress, and serve other gods, and worship them;
