Then Abraham breathed his last, and died in a good old age, an old man and full of days, and was added to his people.

And he said, Behold, I have grown old, and know not the day of my death.

and prepare some meats for me, as I like them, and bring them to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.

And Israel said to Joseph, Behold, I die; and God shall be with you, and restore you to the land of your fathers.

waiting for the salvation of the Lord.

All these are the twelve sons of Jacob; and their father spoke these words to them, and he blessed them; he blessed each of them according to his blessing.

And Jacob ceased giving charges to his sons; and having lifted up his feet on the bed, he died, and was gathered to his people.

And Joseph spoke to his brothers, saying, I die, and God will surely visit you, and will bring you out of this land to the land concerning which God swore to our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the anger of the king; for he endured as seeing the Unseen [One].

A ruler shall not fail from Judah, nor a prince from his loins, until there come the things stored up for him; and He is the expectation of nations.

I will point to Him, but not now; I bless Him, but He draws not near: a Star shall arise out of Jacob, a Man shall spring forth out of Israel; and shall crush the princes of Moab, and shall spoil all the sons of Seth.

For I know that He is eternal who is about to deliver me,

Your father Abraham rejoiced that he should see My day, and he saw it and he was glad."

These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke about Him.

Concerning this salvation the prophets have sought out and inquired carefully, having prophesied of the grace [that would come] to you,

To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to you they were ministering these things, which things were now announced to you by those who proclaimed the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things which angels desire to look into.

and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to do.

For by this hope we were saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?

And in this we know that we are from the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.

I am a sojourner and a stranger among you. Therefore give me possession of a burying-place among you, and I will bury my dead away from me.

And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The days of the years of my life, wherein I sojourn, are one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, they have not attained to the days of the life of my fathers, in which days they sojourned.

But who am I, and what [is] my people, that we have been able to be thus forward [in offering] to You? For all things [are] Yours, and of Your own have we given You,

for we are strangers before You, and sojourners, as all our fathers [were]; our days upon the earth [are] as a shadow, and there is no remaining.

O Lord, hearken to my prayer and my supplication; attend to my tears; be not silent, for I am a sojourner in the land, and a stranger, as all my fathers [were].

I am a stranger in the earth; hide not Your commandments from me.

And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, pass the time of your sojourning [here] in fear;

Beloved, I implore you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from the lusts of the flesh which war against the soul;
