And he said to him, I also am a prophet as you [are]; and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back to you into your house, and let him eat bread and drink water; but he lied to him.

And the Lord said to him, In what way? And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You shall deceive him; yea, and you shall prevail: go forth, and do so.

the old man, and them that respect persons, this is the head; and the prophet teaching unlawful things, he is the tail.

Hear now these things, O foolish and senseless people; who have eyes, and see not; and have ears, and hear not:

Also in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen horrible things: as they committed adultery, and walked in lies, and strengthened the hands of many, that they should not return each from his evil way. They have all become to Me as Sodom, and its inhabitants as Gomorrah.

Therefore behold, I am against the prophets that prophesy false dreams, and have not told them [truly], and have caused My people to err by their lies, and by their errors; yet I sent them not, and commanded them not. Therefore, they shall not profit this people at all.

And at the latter time of their kingdom, when their sins are coming to the full, there shall arise a king of fierce countenance, who understands riddles;

And the yoke of his chain shall prosper: [there is] underhanded treachery in his hand, and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by deceit he shall destroy many, and shall stand up for the destruction of many, and shall crush them like eggs in his hand.

"But beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

For false christs and false prophets will be raised up, and they will show great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Also from among you yourselves will arise men speaking things having been distorted, [in order] to draw away the disciples after them.

For such [people] do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and through smooth speech and flattering, they deceive the hearts of the innocent.

that we may no longer be infants, being tossed as by waves, and being carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in regard to deceitful scheming,

having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from these people turn away!

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master, the [One] having bought them, and bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

And by covetousness they will exploit you with fabricated words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction will not sleep.

For they are spirits of demons performing signs, which go forth to the kings of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

And just as they did not approve to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do the things which are not fitting;

who, having become callous, gave themselves over to debauchery, for the working of uncleanness with utmost greediness.
