For He has given the law for a help, that they should not speak according to this word, concerning which there are no gifts to give for it.

"But beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

Thus every good tree produces good fruit, but a rotten tree produces evil fruit.

Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.

And having summoned all the crowd, He said to them, "Hear Me, all [of you] and understand:

If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!"

"And why do you not judge what is right even of yourselves?

And these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, who received the word with all readiness, each day examining the Scriptures [to see] whether these things might be so.

And do not fashion yourselves after this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.

For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

But he that is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is discerned by no man.

But if there is no interpreter, let him be silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God.

that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ,

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

"I know your works, and your labor, and your endurance, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you tested those who say that they are apostles and they are not, and you found them [to be] liars;

and all the things that He did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab the son of Reuben, whom the earth, opening her mouth, swallowed up, and their houses, and their tents, and all their substance that was with them, in the midst of all Israel;

And you shall keep all His commandments, as many as I command you this day, that you may live and be multiplied; and that you may go in and inherit the land, into which you go across the Jordan, to inherit it;

And he said to them, Take heed with your heart to all these words, which I testify to you this day, which you shall command your sons, to observe and do all the words of this law.

For this [is] no vain word to you; for it [is] your life, and because of this word you shall live long upon the land, into which you go over the Jordan to inherit it.

[My] son, forget not my laws, but let your heart keep my words:

[My] son, let [them] not pass from [you], but keep my counsel and understanding:

that you may go confidently in peace in all your ways, and that your foot may not stumble.

Take hold of my instruction; do not let it go, but keep it for yourself, for your life.

but bind them upon your soul continually, and hang them as a chain about your neck.

For the commandment of the law is a lamp and a light; a way of life; reproof also and correction:

It [was] as a little [while] after I parted from them, that I found him whom my soul loves: I held him, and did not let him go, until I brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

Then Jesus said to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you abide in My word, truly you are My disciples.

Abide in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit on its own, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.

who, arriving and seeing the grace of God, was glad, and encouraged them all with purpose of heart to continue with the Lord,

strengthening the souls of the disciples, urging [them] to continue in the faith, [saying], "Through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God."

[Let] love [be] without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good.

So then, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Nevertheless, to what we have attained, let us walk by the same rule, [being] of the same mind.

Finally, brothers, as many things as are true, as many as are honorable, as many as are just, as many as are pure, as many as are lovely--if there is any virtue and if there is any praise--meditate on these things.

So then, brothers, stand fast and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our letter.

This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

For of these are those [who] creep into houses and captivate gullible women having been loaded down with sins, who are led by various lusts,

Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lord repay him according to his works;

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Only hold fast what you have till I come.

Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you like a thief, and by no means shall you know what hour I will come upon you.

I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no man may take your crown.
