[even the things that happened in] the day in which you stood before the Lord our God in Horeb in the day of the assembly; for the Lord said to me, Gather the people to Me, and let them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days which they live upon the earth, and they shall teach their sons.

And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, and to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul;

to keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and His statutes, all that I command you this day, that it may be well with you?

You shall fear the Lord your God, and serve Him, and shall cleave to Him, and shall swear by His name.

You shall follow the Lord your God, and fear Him, and you shall hear His voice, and attach yourselves to Him.

And He said, Lay not your hand upon the child, neither do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, and for My sake you have not spared your beloved son.

And Moses said to them, Be of good courage, for God has come to you to test you, that His fear may be among you, that you sin not.

And He said to man, Behold, godliness is wisdom: and to abstain from evil is understanding.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and all that act accordingly have a good understanding; His praise endures forever and ever.

A Song of Degrees. Blessed are all they that fear the Lord; who walk in His ways.

Hear the end of the matter, the sum: Fear God, and keep His commandments; for this is man's all.

But I will show you whom you should fear: fear Him who after He kills, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!

And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, pass the time of your sojourning [here] in fear;

And you shall teach them to your children, and you shall speak of them sitting in the house, and walking by the way, and lying down, and rising up.

For I know that he will order his sons, and his house after him, and they will keep the ways of the Lord, to do justice and judgment, that the Lord may bring upon Abraham all things whatsoever He has spoken to him.

They were not hid from their children to a second generation; [the fathers] declaring the praises of the Lord, and His mighty acts, and His wonders which He has done.

that another generation might know, even the sons which should be born; and they should arise and declare them to their children.

That they should not be as their fathers, a perverse and provoking generation; a generation which set not its heart aright, and its spirit was not steadfast with God.

And keep His commandments and His statutes, all that I command you this day; that it may be well with you, and with your sons after you, that you may be long-lived upon the earth, which the Lord your God is giving you forever.

Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you; that it may be well with you, and that you may live long upon the land, which the Lord your God gives you.

according to all the way which the Lord your God commanded you to walk in it, that He may give you rest; and that it may be well with you, and you may prolong your days on the land which you shall inherit.

You shall by all means let the mother go, but you shall take the young to yourself; that it may be well with you, and that you may live long.

[My] son, forget not my laws, but let your heart keep my words:

for length of days, and years of life, and peace, shall they add to you.

For length of days and years of life are in her right hand, and in her left hand are wealth and glory. [ 3:16A] Out of her mouth proceeds righteousness, and she carries law and mercy upon her tongue.

For "He that desires to love life and see good days, let him stop his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking guile.

Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.
