Exodus 16:1-17
1
And they departed from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the Wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai; and on the fifteenth day, in the second month after their departure from the land of Egypt,
2
all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron.
3
And the children of Israel said to them, Would we had died smitten by the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the fleshpots, and ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness, to slay all this congregation with hunger.
4
And the Lord said to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread upon you out of heaven; and the people shall go forth, and they shall gather their daily portion for the day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not.
5
And it shall come to pass on the sixth day that they shall prepare whatsoever they have brought in, and it shall be double of what they shall have gathered for the day, daily.
6
And Moses and Aaron said to all the congregation of the children of Israel, At evening you shall know that the Lord has brought you out of the land of Egypt;
7
and in the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord, inasmuch as He hears your murmuring against God; and who are we, that you continue to murmur against us?
8
And Moses said, [This shall be] when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening, and bread in the morning to the full, because the Lord has heard your murmuring, which you murmur against us: and what are we? For your murmuring is not against us, but against God.
9
And Moses said to Aaron, Say to all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before God; for He has heard your murmuring.
10
And when Aaron spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and they turned toward the wilderness, then the glory of the Lord appeared in a cloud.
11
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

I have heard the murmuring of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, Towards evening you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be satisfied with bread; and you shall know that I am the Lord your God.
13
And it was evening, and quails came up and covered the camp.
14
In the morning it came to pass as the dew ceased round about the camp, that behold, on the face of the wilderness [was] a small thing like white coriander seed, as frost upon the earth.
15
And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, What is this? For they knew not what it was; and Moses said to them,
16
This [is] the bread which the Lord has given you to eat. This is that which the Lord has appointed; gather of it each man for his family, a homer for each person, according to the number of your souls, gather each of you with his fellow lodgers.
17
And the children of Israel did so and gathered, some much, and some less.
Nehemiah 9:12-23

And You guided them by day by a pillar of cloud, and by night by a pillar of fire, to enlighten for them the way in which they should walk.
13
Also You came down upon Mount Sinai, and You spoke to them out of heaven, and gave them right judgments, and laws of truth, ordinances, and good commandments.
14
And You made known to them Your holy Sabbath; You enjoined upon them commandments, and ordinances, and a law, by the hand of Your servant Moses.

And You gave them bread from heaven for their food, and You brought them water from a rock for their thirst; and You told them to go in to inherit the land over which You stretched out Your hand to give to them.

But they and our fathers behaved proudly, and hardened their neck, and did not hearken to Your commandments,
17
and refused to listen, and remembered not Your wonders which You worked among them. And they hardened their neck, and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But You, O God, [are] merciful and compassionate, long-suffering, and abundant in mercy, and You did not forsake them.
18
And still farther they even made for themselves a molded calf, and said, These [are] the gods that brought us up out of Egypt: and they worked great provocations.
19
Yet You in Your great mercy did not forsake them in the wilderness; You did not turn away from them the pillar of the cloud by day, to guide them in the way, nor the pillar of fire by night, to enlighten for them the way in which they should walk.
20
And You gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, and You did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, and gave them water in their thirst.
21
And You sustained them forty years in the wilderness; You did not allow anything to fail them. Their garments did not wear out, and their feet were not bruised.
22
Moreover, You gave them kingdoms, and divided nations to them; and they inherited the land of Sihon, king of Hesbron, and the land of Og king of Bashan.
23
And You multiplied their children as the stars of heaven, and brought them into the land of which You spoke to their fathers;
Psalm 78:14-28

And He guided them with a cloud by day, and all the night with a light of fire.
15
He split a rock in the wilderness, and made them drink as in a great deep.
16
And He brought water out of the rock, and caused waters to flow down as rivers.
17
And they sinned yet more against Him; they provoked the Most High in the wilderness.

And they tempted God in their hearts, in asking meat for [the desire of] their souls.

They spoke also against God, and said, Will God be able to prepare a table in the wilderness?

Forasmuch as He struck the rock, and the waters flowed, and the torrents ran abundantly; will He be able also to give bread, or prepare a table for His people?

Therefore the Lord heard, and was provoked: and fire was kindled in Jacob, and wrath went up against Israel.

Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in His salvation.

Yet He commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
24
and rained upon them manna to eat, and gave them the bread of heaven.
25
Man ate angels' bread; He sent them provision to the full.
26
He removed the south wind from heaven; and by His might He brought in the south west wind.
27
And He rained upon them flesh like dust, and feathered birds like the sand on the seashore.
28
And they fell into the midst of their camp, round about their tents.
