But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

neither wickedness, nor foolish talk or coarse jesting, which are not proper, but rather thanksgiving.

For there is no truth in their mouth; their heart is vain; their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have used deceit.

your tongue has devised unrighteousness; like a sharpened razor you have worked deceit.

Their injustice shall go forth as out of fatness; they have fulfilled their intention.

They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has gone through upon the earth.

Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

But I say to you, that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

"Their throat is an opened grave; with their tongues they deceived"; " [the] poison of asps is under their lips";

"Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.

If, in the manner of men, I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what is the benefit to me? If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!"

Do not be deceived: "Evil associations corrupts good habits."

But now you yourselves are to put off all [these]: wrath, anger, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

Do not lie to one another, since you have stripped off the old man with his practices,

Let your word always be with grace, having been seasoned with salt, to know how you ought to answer each [one].

For we all stumble in many [ways]. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a mature man, able also to bridle the whole body.

Consider also the ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the pilot desires.

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. Thus the tongue is set among our members, as that which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

But no man can tame the tongue. [It] is an unrestrainable evil, full of deadly poison.

For when they speak haughty [words] of emptiness, they entice through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, those who are escaping from those who are living in error,

raging waves on the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars for whom the darkness of the netherworld has been reserved forever.

to execute judgment against all, and to convict all the ungodly among them about all their ungodly deeds which they have committed impiously, and about all the harsh [words] which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

And a mouth was given to him speaking great things and blasphemy, and authority was given to him to make war for forty-two months.

Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, and His dwelling, and those who dwell in heaven.

And these words, all that I command you this day, shall be in your heart and in your soul.

And you shall fasten them for a sign upon your hand, and it shall be immovable before your eyes.

The mouth of the righteous will meditate wisdom, and his tongue will speak of judgment.

The law of his God is in his heart; and his steps shall not slide.

You are more beautiful than the sons of men; grace has been shed forth on Your lips; therefore God has blessed You forever.

O God, You have taught me from my youth, and until now will I declare Your wonders;

even until I am old and advanced in years. O God, forsake me not; until I have declared Your [mighty] arm to all the generation that is to come;

Moreover also my tongue shall dwell all the day upon Your righteousness; when they shall be ashamed and confounded that seek my hurt.

They were not hid from their children to a second generation; [the fathers] declaring the praises of the Lord, and His mighty acts, and His wonders which He has done.

And He raised up a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, to make it known to their children;

The mouth of the righteous drops wisdom, but the tongue of the unjust shall perish.

The lips of just men drop grace, but the mouth of the ungodly is perverse.

For the sin of his lips a sinner falls into snare, but a righteous man escapes from them. [ 12:13A] He whose looks are gentle shall be pitied, but he that contends in the gates will afflict souls.

The tongue of the wise knows what is good, but the mouth of the foolish speaks evil things.

The wholesome tongue is a tree of life, and he that keeps it shall be filled with understanding.

[Men] call the wise and understanding evil, but they that are pleasing in speech shall hear more.

As a golden apple in a necklace of sardius, so [is it] to speak a wise word.

In an earring of gold a precious sardius is also set; so is a wise word to an obedient ear.

The Lord, [even] God, gives me the tongue of instruction, to know when it is fit to speak a word; He has appointed for me early, He has given me an ear to hear;

Thus they spoke, [those] that feared the Lord, everyone to his neighbor: and the Lord gave heed, and listened, and He wrote a book of remembrance before him for them that feared the Lord and reverenced His name.

Then shall you return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, and between him that serves God, and him that serves Him not.

And all were bearing witness to Him, and were marveling at the gracious words which came out of His mouth. And they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?"

but in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, in order that I may instruct others, rather than ten thousand words in an [unknown] tongue.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

And whatever you may do in word or deed, do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Let your word always be with grace, having been seasoned with salt, to know how you ought to answer each [one].

Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

for the perfecting of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ,

from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the working of the measure of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the edification of itself in love.

Thus let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works, and they may glorify your Father who is in heaven.

having your manner of life noble among the Gentiles, so that, whenever they speak against you as evildoers, when they observe the good works, they may glorify God in the day of visitation.

Wives, likewise, subject yourselves to your own husbands, so that even if some are disobedient to the word, [that] by the conduct of their wives, without a word, they shall be gained [for Christ],
