they have quickly gone out of the way which you have commanded; they have made for themselves a calf, and worshipped it, and sacrificed to it, and said,

They have all gone out of the way, they have together become corrupt, there is none that does good, no not one. Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have used deceit. The poison of asps is under their lips: whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood: destruction and misery are in their ways; and the way of peace they have not known: there is no fear of God before their eyes.

But behold, this have I found, that God made man upright; but they have sought out many devices.

All we like sheep have gone astray; everyone has gone astray in his way; and the Lord gave Him up for our sins.

and the way of peace they know not, neither is there judgment in their ways; for their paths by which they go are crooked, and they know not peace.

For My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn out for themselves broken cisterns, which will not be able to hold water.

among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the senses, and were by nature children of wrath, as also the rest.

For you were like sheep going astray, but you have turned back now to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

[ 6:7] that God took it to heart that He had made man upon the earth, and He pondered it deeply.

[ 6:8] And God said, I will blot out man whom I have made from the face of the earth, even man and beast, and reptiles with flying creatures of the sky, for I am grieved that I have made them.

And cast the useless servant into the darkness outside. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

who once was unprofitable to you, but now is useful to you and to me,

For the end, [A Psalm] of David upon Mahalath, of instruction. The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They have corrupted [themselves,] and have become abominable in iniquities; there is none that does good.

For there is not a righteous man in the earth who will do good, and not sin.

and we have all become as unclean, and all our righteousness is as a filthy rag; and we have fallen as leaves because of our iniquities; thus the wind shall carry us [away].

For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God,

For we are His handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

for it is God who is working in you, both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself a people as [His] own possession, zealous for good works.

Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
