And the Lord called, Samuel, Samuel; and he said, Behold, [here] [am] I.

And the Lord called again, Samuel, Samuel; and he went to Eli the second time, and said, Behold [here] [am] I, for you called me. And he said, I did not call you; return, go to sleep.

And the Lord called Samuel again for the third time; and he arose and went to Eli, and said, Behold, I [am here], for you called me. And Eli perceived that the Lord had called the child.

And the Lord came, and stood, and called him as before. And Samuel said, Speak, for Your servant hears.

I, who was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I was shown mercy because, being ignorant, I did it in unbelief,

Therefore I thought in myself that it was necessary to do many hostile things against the name of Jesus the Nazarene;

but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it--lest you even be found to fight against God."

So Jacob ate and was filled, and the beloved one kicked; he grew fat, he became thick and broad: then he forsook the God that made him, and departed from God his Savior.

For He is wise in mind, and mighty, and great: who has hardened himself against Him and endured?

[ 40:4] Have you an arm like the Lord's? Or can you thunder with a voice like His?

[ 40:5] Assume now a lofty bearing and power; and clothe yourself with glory and honor.

Accept correction, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and you should perish from the righteous way. Whenever His wrath shall be suddenly kindled, blessed are all they that trust in Him.

What excellent thing have I prepared as clay of the potter? Will the plowman plow the earth all day? Shall the clay say to the potter, What are you doing that you do not work, nor have hands? Shall the thing formed answer Him that formed it?

Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
