And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation of those under heaven.

a devout [man], and one that feared God, together with all his household, who often gave alms to the people, and making petition to God always.

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

And Sarah died in Kirjath Arba, which is in the valley, this is Hebron in the land of Canaan; and Abraham came to lament for Sarah and to mourn.

And they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan; and they bewailed him with a great and very sore lamentation; and he made a mourning for his father seven days.

And the inhabitants of the land of Canaan saw the mourning at the floor of Atad, and said, This is a great mourning to the Egyptians; therefore he called its name, The Mourning of Egypt, which is beyond the Jordan.

And all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead. And they wept for Aaron thirty days, [even] all the house of Israel.

And the children of Israel wept for Moses in Araboth of Moab at the Jordan near Jericho for thirty days; and the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were completed.

And Samuel had died, and all Israel lamented for him, and they buried him in his city, in Ramah. And Saul had removed out of the land those who had in them divining spirits, and the wizards.

And David said to Joab and to all the people with him, tear your clothes, and put on sackcloth, and lament over Abner. And King David followed the coffin.

And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in a high place among the tombs of the sons of David. And all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem gave him glory and honor at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his place.

And Jeremiah mourned over Josiah, and all the chief men and chief women uttered a lamentation over Josiah until this day. And they made it an ordinance for Israel, and behold, it is written in the lamentations.

See how the just man has perished, and no one lays [it] to heart; and righteous men are taken away, and no one considers; for the righteous has been removed out of the way of injustice.

His burial shall be in peace; he has been removed out of the way.

Weep not for the dead, nor lament for him: weep bitterly for him that goes away; for he shall return no more, nor see his native land.

Therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, even concerning this man: they shall not lament for him, [saying], Ah brother! Neither shall they weep for him, [saying], Alas Lord.

Then the Jews who were with her in the house and consoling her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, "She is going to the tomb, so that she may weep there."

Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.

Jesus wept.
