Then the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they were afraid of the people, lest they be stoned.

Now while they were speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them,

And he went off and spoke with the chief priests and captains [about] how he might betray Him to them.

Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, "Have you come out, as against a bandit, with swords and clubs?

So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What might this mean?"

saying, "What shall we do to these men? For indeed, that a known sign has come to pass by them is evident to all those who are dwelling in Jerusalem, and we are not able to deny it.

But lest it be spread further among the people, let us threaten them with a threat, to speak no longer in this name."

So having threatened them further, they released them, finding no way of punishing them, on account of the people, because they all were glorifying God over that which had occurred.

Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, "What are we doing? For this Man works many signs.

If we leave Him alone in this way, all will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and will take away both our place and our nation."

The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, "You see that you are not doing any good. Look, the world has gone after Him!"

His government shall be great, and of His peace there is no end; [it shall be] upon the throne of David, and [upon] His kingdom, to establish it, and to support [it] with judgment and with righteousness, from this time forward and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts shall perform this.

O Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

We brought a report as [of] a child before Him; [He is] as a root in a thirsty land; He has no form, nor comeliness; and we saw Him, but He had no form nor beauty.

You saw until a stone was cut out of a mountain without hands, and it struck the image upon its feet of iron and clay, and utterly reduced them to powder.

Then once for all the clay, the iron, the brass, the silver, and the gold were ground into powder, and became as chaff from the summer threshing floor. And the violence of the wind carried them away, and no place was found for them. And the stone which had struck the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

And in the days of those kings the God of heaven shall set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and His kingdom shall not be left to another people, [but] it shall beat to pieces and grind to powder all [other] kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

Whereas you saw that a stone was cut out of a mountain without hands, and it beat to pieces the clay, the iron, the brass, the silver, and the gold; the great God has made known to the king what must happen hereafter: and the dream is true, and its interpretation is sure.

and you shall say to him, Thus says the Lord Almighty; Behold the man whose name is the Branch; and He shall spring up from His stem, and build the house of the Lord.

And He shall receive power, and shall sit and rule upon His throne; and there shall be a priest on His right hand, and a peaceable counsel shall be between them both.

Then He said, "To what shall we compare the kingdom of God? Or by what sort of parable shall we illustrate it?

but whenever it is sown, it comes up and becomes greater than all the garden vegetables, and produces great branches, so that the birds of heaven are able to nest under its shade."
