And because we were exceedingly tempest-tossed, the next day they lightened the ship.

And on the third day we threw off the equipment of the ship with our own hands.

And the devil answered and said to the Lord, Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give as a ransom for his life.

And the sailors were alarmed, and cried everyone to his god, and cast out the wares that were in the ship into the sea, that it might be lightened of them. But Jonah had gone down into the hold of the ship, and was asleep, and snored.

"Because of this I say to you, do not worry [about] your life--what you shall eat, or what you shall drink--nor [about] your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food and the body [more than] clothing?

For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give [as] an exchange for his soul?

So therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every impediment, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
