[in order for them] to seek the Lord, if perhaps indeed they might grope for Him and find [Him], and yet being indeed not far from each one of us;

for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.'

For the end, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims the work of His hands.

There are no speeches or words, in which their voices are not heard.

Because that which is known of God is manifest among them, for God has shown [it] to them.

For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things made, both His eternal power and Divinity, so that they are without excuse.

O Lord, Your mercy is in the heavens; and Your truth [reaches] to the clouds.

How have You multiplied Your mercy, O God! So the children of men shall trust in the shelter of Your wings.

For the end, [A Psalm] of instruction by David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said to him, David has gone to the house of Abimelech. Why do you, O mighty man, boast of iniquity in your mischief? All the day

How great are Your works, O Lord! In wisdom have You done them all; the earth is filled with Your creation.

There go the ships; [and] this dragon whom You have made to play in it.

When You have given [it to] them, they will gather [it]; and when You have opened Your hand, they shall all be filled with good.

The Lord is good to those that wait [on Him]; and His compassions are over all His works.

The eyes of all wait upon You; and You give [them] their food in due season.

You open Your hands, and fill every living thing with pleasure.

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping to receive nothing back; and your reward shall be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

then will I give you the rain in its season, and the land shall produce its fruits, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

then He shall give to your land the early and latter rain in its season, and you shall bring in your grain, your wine, and your oil.

May the Lord open to you His good treasure [from out of] the heavens, to give rain to your land in season; may He bless all the works of your hands. So shall you lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you.

And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, and appear before Ahab, and I will bring rain upon the face of the earth.

who gives rain upon the earth, sending water on the earth:

for He says to the snow, Fall on the earth, and the stormy rain, and the storm of the showers of His might.

to rain upon the land where there is no man, the wilderness, where there is not a man in it; so as to feed the untrodden and uninhabited land,

Who is the rain's father? And who has generated the drops of dew?

You have visited the earth, and saturated it; You have abundantly enriched it. The river of God is filled with water; You have prepared their food, for thus is the preparation [of it].

You will bless the crown of the year [because] of Your goodness; and Your plains shall be filled with fatness.

The rams of the flock are clothed [with wool], and the valleys shall abound in grain; they shall cry aloud; yea, they shall sing hymns.

O God, You will grant to Your inheritance a gracious rain; for it was weary, but You have refreshed it.

Your creatures dwell in it; You have in Your goodness prepared for the poor.

Begin [the song] with thanksgiving to the Lord; sing praises on the harp to our God;

who covers the heaven with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who causes grass to spring up on the mountains, [and green herb for the service of men];

And I will forsake My vineyard; and it shall not be pruned, nor dug, and thorns shall come up upon it as on barren land; and I will command the clouds to rain no rain upon it.

And they have not said in their heart, Let us fear now the Lord our God, who gives us the early and latter rain, according to the season of the fulfillment of the ordinance of harvest, and has preserved [it] for us.

Is there anyone among the idols of the Gentiles that can give rain? And will the sky yield His fullness [at their bidding]? Are not You He? We will even wait on You, O Lord, for You have made all these things.

so that you may prove to be sons of your Father in heaven; because He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and He sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Elijah was a man of similar nature to us, and with a prayer, he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and it did not rain upon the land for three years and six months.

And again he prayed, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

lest when you have eaten and are full, and have built nice houses, and dwelt in them;

[that] you should be exalted in your heart, and forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

And they took lofty cities, and inherited houses full of all good things, wells [already] dug, vineyards and olive yards, and every fruit tree in abundance. So they ate, and were filled, and grew fat, and delighted themselves in Your great goodness.

but they engaged in joy and gladness, slaying calves, and killing sheep, so as to eat flesh, and drink wine; saying, Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die.

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to put their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who provides all things richly for us to enjoy,
