And on the next day he appeared to them as they were fighting, and [tried to] reconcile them to peace, saying, 'Men, you are brothers; why do you wrong one another?'

and he brought them forth outside and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

saying to them, "Men, I perceive this voyage is going to be with hardship and much loss, not only of the cargo and of the ship but also our lives."

Now when they had abstained from food for a long time, then stood Paul in the midst of them and said, "Men, you should have followed my advice and not put to sea from Crete, and to spare [yourselves] this hardship and loss.

"Therefore keep up your courage, men; for I believe God that it will be in the very manner it has been spoken to me.

But Peter raised him up, saying, "Stand up; I myself am also a man."

And I saw the Beast and the kings of the earth and their armies, having been gathered together to make war against Him who rode on the horse and against His army.

Then he said to me, "See [that you do] not! For I am your fellow servant, and I am of your brothers the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God."

So when Peter saw [this], he replied to the people: "Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made him to walk?

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you indeed delivered up and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.

And the populace was calling out, "[This is the] voice of a god and not of a man!"

Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And becoming eaten by worms, he died.

And Joseph answered Pharaoh and said, Without God an answer of safety shall not be given to Pharaoh.

But there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what things must come to pass in the last days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed are as follows:

Moreover, this mystery has not been revealed to me by reason of wisdom which is in me beyond all [others] living, but for the sake of making known the interpretation to the king, that you might know the thoughts of your heart.

He who speaks from himself is seeking his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.

Elijah was a man of similar nature to us, and with a prayer, he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and it did not rain upon the land for three years and six months.

And I fell before his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "See [that you do] not! I am your fellow servant, and of your brothers who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

And in Athens, while Paul waited for them, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was full of idols.

And also some of the Epicurean and of the Stoic philosophers were conversing with him. And some were saying, "What does this seed-picker wish to say?" But others [said], "He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign deities," because he was preaching the good news of Jesus and the resurrection.

delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,

"Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,

They have provoked Me to jealousy by [that which is] not God, they have exasperated Me with their idols; and I will provoke them to jealousy with them that are not a nation, I will anger them with a nation void of understanding.

And turn not aside after [the gods] that are nothing, who will do nothing, and will not deliver you, because they are nothing.

for all the sins of Baasha and Elah his son, as he led Israel astray to sin, to provoke the Lord God of Israel with their vanities.

And he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sins wherewith he caused Israel to sin, to provoke the Lord God of Israel by their vanities.

You have hated them that idly persist in vanities; but I have hoped in the Lord.

But they that framed [false gods] did not then hearken; and they that engraved [images] are all vain, performing their own desires, which shall not profit them, but they shall be ashamed

that form a god, and all that engrave worthless things;

And one has not considered in his mind, nor known in his understanding, that he has burned up half of it in the fire, and baked loaves on its coals and has roasted and eaten flesh, and of the rest of it he has made an abomination, and they worship it.

Know that their heart is ashes, and they err, and no one is able to deliver his soul; see, you will not say, [There is a] lie in my right hand.

Assemble yourselves and come; take counsel together, you that escape from the nations. They that set up wood, [even] their graven image, have no knowledge, nor do they who pray to gods that do not save.

They bear it upon the shoulder, and go; and if they put it upon its place, it remains, it cannot move; and whosoever shall cry to it, it cannot hear; it cannot save him from trouble.

Behold, [there is] a sound of the cry of the daughter of My people from a land afar off. Is not the Lord in Zion? Is there not a king there? Because they have provoked Me with their graven [images], and with strange vanities.

For the customs of the nations are vain; it is a tree cut out of the forest, the work of the carpenter, or a molten image.

they will set them up that they may not move.

Is there anyone among the idols of the Gentiles that can give rain? And will the sky yield His fullness [at their bidding]? Are not You He? We will even wait on You, O Lord, for You have made all these things.

Thus says the Lord; For three sins of the children of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away from him, because they have rejected the law of the Lord, and have not kept His ordinances, and their vain [idols] which they made, which their fathers followed, caused them to err.

[ 2:9] Those that observe vanities and lies have forsaken their own mercy.

Because, having known God, they did not glorify Him as God, or give thanks, but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened.

and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for a likeness of an image of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and reptiles.

Therefore concerning the eating of the things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.

This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

For what man [is there,] who has heard the voice of the living God, speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we [have heard], and shall live?

Hereby you shall know that the living God [is] among you, and will utterly destroy from before our face the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, the Amorite, the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.

Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear, and the uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them! Shall I not go and kill him, and remove this day [this] reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised one, who has defied the army of the living God?

Perhaps the Lord your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God, and to revile Him with the words which the Lord your God has heard; and you shall offer [your] prayer for the remnant that is found.

Incline Your ear, O Lord, and hear: open Your eyes and see, O Lord; and hear the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God.

They must certainly be borne, for they cannot ride [of themselves]. Fear them not, for they cannot do any evil, and there is no good in them.

This decree has been set forth by me in every dominion of my kingdom, that [men must] tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for He is the living and eternal God, and His kingdom shall not be destroyed, and His dominion is forever.

For just as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,

For they themselves report about us what kind of entrance we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,

but if I am delayed, [I write] so that you may know how it is necessary to conduct oneself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.

Take heed, brothers, lest there be in anyone of you a wicked heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;

So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one mind and said: "Lord, You are God, who made heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them,

The God who made the world and all the things in it, Him being Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in sanctuaries made by human hands,

And He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell upon all the face of the earth, and He ordained their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,

for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.'

In the beginning God made the heaven and the earth.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were established; and all the host of them by the breath of His [mouth].

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Blessed is he whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

who made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things in them; who keeps truth forever;

He established me in the beginning, before time was, before He made the earth.

before the mountains were settled, and before all hills, He begot me.

When He prepared the heaven, I was present with Him; and when He prepared His throne upon the winds;

and when He strengthened the foundations of the earth;

For He rejoiced when He had completed the world, and rejoiced among the children of men.

Thus says the Lord that made the heaven, this God that created the earth, and made it; He marked it out, He made it not in vain, but formed it to be inhabited; I am the Lord, and there is no other.

Thus shall you say to them: Let the gods which have not made heaven and earth perish from off the earth, and from under this sky.

O great Lord! You have made the heaven and the earth by Your great power, and with Your high and lofty arm; nothing can be hidden from You.

The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel. Thus says the Lord, that stretches out the sky, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him.

For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things made, both His eternal power and Divinity, so that they are without excuse.

saying with a loud voice, "Fear the Lord and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and you shall worship Him who made heaven and earth, and the sea and fountains of waters."
