But if you continue to do evil, then shall you and your king be consumed.

And Samuel said to Saul, You have done foolishly, for you have not kept my command, which the Lord commanded you, as now the Lord would have confirmed your kingdom over Israel forever.

I greatly regret that I have made Saul to be king; for he has turned back from following Me, and has not kept My word. And Samuel was grieved, and cried to the Lord all night.

For sin is as divination; idols bring on pain and grief. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, the Lord also shall reject you from being king over Israel.

And Samuel said to Saul, I will not turn back with you, for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord will reject you from being king over Israel.

And Samuel said to him, The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from out of your hand this day, and will give it to your neighbor, who is better than you.

And the Lord said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I will send you to Jesse, to Bethlehem; for I have seen among his sons a king for Me.

And Samuel said, Why do you ask me, seeing the Lord has departed from you, and taken part with your neighbor?

So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armorbearer, together in that same day.

But My mercy I will not take from him, as I took it from those whom I removed from My presence.

So Saul died for his transgressions, wherein he transgressed against God, against the word of the Lord, forasmuch as he kept [it] not, because Saul inquired of a wizard to seek [counse]l, and Samuel the prophet answered him;

Where is this your king? Let him even save you in all your cities. Let him judge you, of whom you said, Give me a king and a prince.

And I gave you a king in My anger, and kept [him] back in My wrath.

And the Lord said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I will send you to Jesse, to Bethlehem; for I have seen among his sons a king for Me.

And Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose, and departed to Ramah.

And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David to reign over the house of Judah; and they reported to David, saying, The men of Jabesh of the country of Gilead have buried Saul.

And all the elders of Israel come to the king at Hebron; and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David king over all Israel.

Seven years and six months he reigned in Hebron over Judah, and thirty-three years he reigned over all Israel and Judah in Jerusalem.

And now thus shall you say to My servant David: Thus says the Lord Almighty, I took you from the sheepfold, that you should be a prince over My people, over Israel.

Yet the Lord God of Israel chose me out of the whole house of my father to be king over Israel forever; and He chose Judah as the kingly [house], and out of the house of Judah [He chose] the house of my father; and among the sons of my father He preferred me, that I should be king over all Israel.

And of all my sons, (for the Lord has given me many sons) He has chosen Solomon my son, to set him on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

But I have been made King by Him on Zion His holy mountain,

He chose David also His servant, and took him up from the flocks of sheep.

So he tended them in the innocence of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

Then You spoke in a vision to Your children, and said, I have laid help on a mighty one; I have exalted one chosen out of My people.

I have found David My servant; I have anointed him by [My] holy mercy.

The enemy shall have no advantage against him; and the son of transgression shall not hurt him again.

But My truth and My mercy shall be with him; and in My name shall his horn be exalted.

He shall call upon Me, [saying], You are my Father, my God, and the helper of my salvation.

I will keep My mercy for him forever, and My covenant [shall be] firm with him.

If his children should forsake My law, and walk not in My judgments;

I will visit their transgressions with a rod, and their sins with scourges.

Neither will I by any means profane My covenant; and I will not make void the things that proceed out of My lips.

His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before Me;

And I will raise up one shepherd over them, and he shall tend them, [even] My servant David, and he shall be their shepherd;

And My servant David [shall be] a prince in the midst of them. There shall be one shepherd of [them] all; for they shall walk in My ordinances, and keep My judgments, and do them.

And they shall dwell in their land, which I have given to My servant Jacob, where their fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell upon it; and David My servant [shall be their] prince forever.

And afterward shall the children of Israel return, and shall seek the Lord their God, and David their king; and shall be amazed at the Lord and at His goodness in the latter days.

And God, the knower of hearts, bore witness to them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as also [He did] to us,

By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying concerning his gifts; and through it, although he died, he still speaks.

By faith Enoch was translated [so as] not to see death, "and he was not found, because God translated him"; for before his translation he had obtained witness that he was pleasing to God.

who found favor before God and asked [opportunity] to find a dwelling place for the God of Jacob.

But now your kingdom shall not stand, and the Lord shall seek for Himself a man after His own heart; and the Lord shall appoint him to be a ruler over His people, because you have not kept all that the Lord has commanded you.

And he walked in the sins of his father which he wrought in his presence, and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as [was] the heart of his father [David].

Forasmuch as David did that which was right in the sight of the Lord; he turned not from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life.
