And Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore a son, and called his name Seth, saying, For God has raised up to me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.

And Seth had a son, and he called his name Enosh: he hoped to call on the name of the Lord God.

And Adam lived two hundred and thirty years, and begot [a son] after his [own] form, and after his own image, and he called his name Seth.

And God said, Let Us make man according to Our image and likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the flying creatures of heaven, and over the cattle and all the earth, and over all the reptiles that creep on the earth.

And God made man, according to the image of God He made him, male and female He made them.

And God formed the man of the dust of the earth, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

This is the genealogy of men in the day in which God made Adam; in the image of God He made him:

male and female He made them, and blessed them; and He called his name Adam, in the day in which He made them.

And now, O Lord, You are our Father, and we are clay, all [of us] the work of Your hands.

And He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell upon all the face of the earth, and He ordained their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,

for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.'

Thus also it is written, "The first man Adam [became] a living soul;" the last Adam [became] a life-giving spirit.

The first man [was] from earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven.
