And when the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

saying, "What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "David's."

Then Jesus answered and said, as [He was] teaching in the temple, "How say the scribes that the Christ is the Son of David?

"Therefore David himself calls Him 'Lord', and how is He his Son?" And the large crowd was hearing Him gladly.

And he shouted, saying, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"

Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have pity on me!"

For a Child is born to us, and a Son is given to us, whose government is upon His shoulder; and His name is called the Messenger of great counsel; for I will bring peace upon the princes, and health to Him.

His government shall be great, and of His peace there is no end; [it shall be] upon the throne of David, and [upon] His kingdom, to establish it, and to support [it] with judgment and with righteousness, from this time forward and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts shall perform this.

And there shall come forth a Rod out of the root of Jesse, and a blossom shall come up from [his] root;

and the Spirit of God shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and godliness shall fill Him;

Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch, and a king shall reign and understand, and shall execute judgment and righteousness on the earth.

In his days both Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell securely. And this is his name, which the Lord shall call Him, Josedek among the prophets.

The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:

Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the village of Bethlehem, where David was?"

"Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to seat [Him] on his throne,

concerning His Son, who came of [the] seed of David according to the flesh,

who was declared Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection of [the] dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,

I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify these things to you for the churches. I am the Root and the Stock of David, the Bright and Morning Star."
