Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,

to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name [was] Mary.

Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as it was supposed) the son of Joseph, the [son] of Heli,

And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He entered into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and He stood up to read.

And when he arrived, he settled down in a city called Nazareth, so that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, "He would be called a Nazarene."

And Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."

So Rachel died, and was buried in the way of the course of Ephratha, (that is, Bethlehem.)

And as for me, when I came out of Mesopotamia of Syria, Rachel, your mother, died in the land of Canaan, as I drew near to the horse course of Cabratha of the land [of Canaan], so as to come to Ephratha; and I buried her in the road of the course; which is Bethlehem.

Now they both went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they arrived at Bethlehem, that all the city was excited because of them, and they said, Is this Naomi?

And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, The Lord [be] with you. And they said to him, The Lord bless you.

And all the people who were in the gate said, [We are] witnesses; and the elders said, The Lord make your wife who goes into your house, as Rachel and as Leah, who both [together] built the house of Israel, and wrought mightily in Ephratha, and there shall be a name [to you] in Bethlehem.

And the neighbors gave him a name, saying, A son has been born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed; this [is] the father of Jesse, the father of David.

And Salmon begot Boaz; and Boaz begot Obed.

And Obed begot Jesse; and Jesse begot David.

And the Lord said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I will send you to Jesse, to Bethlehem; for I have seen among his sons a king for Me.

And Samuel did all that the Lord told him; and he came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city were trembling at meeting him, and said, Do you come peaceably, O Seer?

And if your father in any way inquires about me, then shall you say, David earnestly asked leave of me to run to Bethlehem his city, for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.

And you, Bethlehem, house of Ephratha, are few in number to be reckoned among the thousands of Judah; yet out of you shall one come forth to Me, to be a ruler of Israel; and His goings forth were from the beginning, even from eternity.

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East arrived in Jerusalem,

But when Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

So they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:

Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the village of Bethlehem, where David was?"

Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa.

Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah.

Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the captivity in Babylon.

Zerubbabel begot Abiud, Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor.

Eliud begot Eleazar, Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob.

So all the generations from Abraham till David [were] fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon [were] fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ [were] fourteen generations.
