And they said, Come, let us build to ourselves a city and tower, whose top shall be to heaven, and let us make to ourselves a name, before we are scattered abroad upon the face of all the earth.

And the Lord said, Behold, [there is] one race, and one language of all, and they have begun to do this, and now nothing shall fail from them of all that they have undertaken to do.

And the Lord scattered them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city and the tower.

Prepare your works for your going forth, and prepare yourself for the field; and come after me, and you shall rebuild your house.

So likewise, every one of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be My disciple.

And Joshua said to the people, Indeed you will not be able to serve the Lord, for God is holy; and He being jealous will not forgive your sins and your transgressions.

And the people said to Joshua, No, but we will serve the Lord!

And now take away the strange gods that are among you, and set your heart right toward the Lord God of Israel.

And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have dens, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."

And you will be hated by all [people] for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup which I am about to drink, or to be baptized [with] the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able."

So He said to them, "You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism [with] which I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is to [those] for whom it has been prepared by My Father."

Then Paul answered, "What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem, in behalf of the name of the Lord Jesus."

For even when we were with you, we were telling you in advance that we were going to be afflicted, just as it also happened, and you know.

Because of this, when I could no longer endure [it], I sent to learn about your faith, lest somehow the tempter had tempted you, and our labor be in vain.

But I consider it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by a reminder,

knowing that the putting off of my tent is soon, just as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
