And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.

And if you lend [to those] from whom you hope to receive [it] back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners, so that they may receive the same amount back.

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping to receive nothing back; and your reward shall be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

Therefore be compassionate, just as your Father also is compassionate.

But when you do charitable giving, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

so that your charitable giving may be in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will Himself reward you openly.
