And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, that they might do for Him according to the custom of the law,

Matthew 22:1-14

And Jesus answered and spoke to them again in parables, saying,

"The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a wedding for his son,

and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they did not want to come.
4
Again, he sent out other servants, saying, 'Say to those who are invited, "See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things [are] ready. Come to the wedding."'
5
"But not caring, they went away, one to his own field, another to his business.
6
And the rest seized his servants, mistreated [them], and killed [them].
7
And when that king heard, he was furious. And he sent out his troops, and he destroyed those murderers, and he burned up their city.
8
Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding indeed is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.
9
Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.'
10
"So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding [hall] was filled with guests.
11
But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there not dressed with wedding clothes.
12
So he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here not having wedding clothes?' And he was speechless.
13
Then the king said to the servants, 'Tie him up hands and feet, take him away, and cast [him] into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
14
"For many are called, but few are chosen."
Matthew 25:1-13

"Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who having taken their lamps, went out to meet the bridegroom.
2
Now five of them were wise, and five [were] foolish.
3
Those who [were] foolish, having taken their lamps, did not take oil with them,
4
but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5
But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.
6
And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!'
7
"Then all those virgins arose, and they trimmed their lamps.
8
And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us [some] of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'
9
"But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for you and us; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'
10
"But as they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
11
Afterward the remaining virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!'
12
"But he answered and said, 'Assuredly I say to you, I do not know you.'
13
"Watch therefore, for you do not know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
