I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been remaining with Me three days and have nothing to eat.

And if I dismiss them hungry to their own houses, they will faint on the way; for some of them have come from a distance."

And there came a man over from Baal Shalisha, and brought to the man of God twenty barley loaves and cakes of figs, of the firstfruits. And he said, Give to the people, and let them eat.

So they ate, and [had some] left over, according to the word of the Lord.

But Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away. You give them [food] to eat."

Now Jesus, having summoned His disciples, He said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been remaining with Me three days, and they do not have anything to eat. And I do not desire to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way."

But He said to them, "You give them [something] to eat." And they said, "We have no more than five loaves of bread and two fish, unless we go and buy food for all these people."

Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.

But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He was about to do.

One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him,

Then Jesus said, "Make the people to recline." Now there was much grass in that place. Therefore the men reclined, in number about five thousand.

Where am I to get the meat to give to all these people? For they weep to me, saying, Give us meat, that we may eat.

And Moses said, The people whom I am among are six hundred thousand footmen; and You said, I will give them meat to eat, and they shall eat a whole month.

And the Lord said to Moses, Shall not the hand of the Lord be fully sufficient? Now shall you know whether My word shall come to pass to you or not.

And the officer on whose hand the king rested answered Elisha and said, Behold, [if] the Lord would make floodgates in heaven, might this thing be? And Elisha said, Behold, you shall see with your eyes, but shall not eat thereof.

Then His disciples said to Him, "Where could we get so many loaves of bread in [this] deserted place, so as to satisfy so great a crowd?"

Philip answered Him, "Two hundred denarii [worth of] bread is not enough for them, that each of them might receive a little."
