I said in the end of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave; I shall part with the remainder of my years.

I said, I shall no more see the salvation of God in the land of the living; I shall no more see the salvation of Israel on the earth; I shall no more see man.

[My life] has failed from among my kindred; I have parted with the remainder of my life; it has gone forth and departed from me, as one that has pitched a tent takes it down [again]; my breath was with me as a weaver's web, when she that weaves draws near to cut off [the] thread.

In that day I was given up as to a lion until the morning; so has He broken all my bones; for I was so given up from day [even] to night.

As a swallow, so will I cry, and as a dove, so do I mourn; for my eyes have failed from looking to the height of heaven to the Lord, who has delivered me,

and removed the sorrow of my soul.

[Yea], O Lord, for it was told You concerning this; and You have revived my breath; and I am comforted, and live.
17
For You have chosen my soul, that it should not perish; and You have cast all [my] sins behind me.
18
For they that are in the grave shall not praise You, neither shall the dead bless You, neither shall they that are in Hades hope for Your mercy.
19
The living shall bless You, as I also [do]; for from this day shall I beget children, who shall declare Your righteousness,
20
O God of my salvation; and I will not cease [from] blessing You with the psaltery all the days of my life before the house of God.
Daniel 4:1-3
1
King Nebuchadnezzar, to all nations, tribes, and tongues that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.
2
It seemed good to me to declare to you the signs and wonders which the Most High God has worked for me,
3
how great and mighty [they are]; His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His power to all generations.

Then King Darius wrote to all nations, tribes, [and] languages, who dwell in all the earth, [saying,] Peace be multiplied to you.

This decree has been set forth by me in every dominion of my kingdom, that [men must] tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for He is the living and eternal God, and His kingdom shall not be destroyed, and His dominion is forever.
27
He helps and delivers, and works signs and wonders in the heaven and on the earth, who has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.
Jonah 2:1-10

[ 2:2] And Jonah prayed to the Lord his God out of the belly of the whale,

[ 2:3] and said, I cried in my affliction to the Lord my God, and He hearkened unto me, even to my cry out of the belly of hell: You heard my voice.

[ 2:4] For You have cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea, and the floods compassed me: all Your billows and Your waves have passed upon me.

[ 2:5] And I said, I am cast out of Your presence: shall I indeed look again toward Your holy temple?

[ 2:6] Water was poured around me to the soul: the lowest deep compassed me, my head went down

[ 2:7] to the clefts of the mountains; I went down into the earth, whose bars are the everlasting barriers: yet, O Lord my God, let my ruined life be restored.

[ 2:8] When my soul was failing me, I remembered the Lord; and may my prayer come to You into Your holy temple.

[ 2:9] Those that observe vanities and lies have forsaken their own mercy.

[ 2:10] But I will sacrifice to You with the voice of praise and thanksgiving: all that I have vowed I will pay to You, the Lord of my salvation.

Acts 22:1-21

"Men, brothers and fathers, hear my defense to you now."

And hearing that he was addressing them in the Hebrew language, they granted [him] more silence. And he said:

"I am indeed a Jew, having been born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but having been brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, having been educated according to the exactness of the law of our forefathers, being zealous for God just as you all are today.
4
I, who persecuted this Way to death, binding and handing over to prisons both men and women,
5
as also the high priest testifies of me, along with the council of the elders, from whom I also received letters to the brothers, and went to Damascus in order to bring those who were there, having been bound, to Jerusalem, that they might be punished.
6
Now it happened, as I was going and approaching Damascus, about midday, suddenly from heaven a great light shone about me.
7
And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?'
8
"So I answered, 'Who are You, Lord?' And He said to me, 'I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting.'
9
"And those who were with me observed the light and became terrified, but they did not hear the voice of the [One] speaking to me.
10
So I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me, 'Arise and go into Damascus, and it will be told to you about all the things which it has been appointed for you to do.'
11
"And since I could not see because of the brightness of that light, being led by the hand by those who were with me, I came into Damascus.
12
And Ananias, a certain devout man according to the law, being testified of by all the Jews dwelling in Damascus,
13
came to me and he stood and said to me, 'Brother Saul, see again.' And I, in that very hour, looked up at him.
14
And he said, 'The God of our fathers has chosen you to know His will, and to see the Righteous One, and hear the voice from His mouth.
15
For you shall be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard.
16
And now, what are you going to do? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.'
17
"And it happened to me, having returned to Jerusalem and praying in the temple, that I came to be in a trance
18
and saw Him saying to me, 'Hurry and go out quickly from Jerusalem, for they will not receive your witness about Me.'
19
"And I said, 'Lord, they know that in every synagogue I was imprisoning and beating those believing on You.
20
And when the blood of Your witness Stephen was shed, I myself was standing by consenting to his murder, and guarding the clothes of those murdering him.'
21
"Then He said to me, 'Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles.'"
Acts 26:4-29

Therefore my way of life from my youth, which from the beginning was spent among my own nation in Jerusalem, all the Jews know,
5
since they have known me for a long time, if they are willing to testify, that according to the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.
6
And now for the hope of the promise having been made by God to the fathers, I stand before you judged,
7
[a promise] to which our twelve tribes, as they earnestly serve God night and day, hope to attain. Concerning which hope I am accused by [the] Jews, King Agrippa.
8
Why is it considered [such] an unbelievable thing by you [people] if God raises the dead?
9
Therefore I thought in myself that it was necessary to do many hostile things against the name of Jesus the Nazarene;
10
which also I did in Jerusalem, and many of the saints I shut up in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were being put to death, I cast my vote against them.
11
And I punished them often in all the synagogues, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even as far as to foreign cities.
12
"In which [pursuits] also, as I traveled to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,
13
at midday, O king, along the road I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those traveling with me.
14
And when we all had fallen down to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.'
15
"So I said, 'Who are You, Lord?' And He said, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
16
But arise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you, to appoint you a minister and a witness both [of the things] which you have seen, and [of the things] which I will yet reveal to you,
17
delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,
18
to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of Satan to God, [in order for] them to receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'
19
"Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,
20
but to those first in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and to the Gentiles, proclaiming that they must repent and turn to God, and do works worthy of repentance.
21
Because of these things the Jews arrested me in the temple and attempted to kill me.
22
Therefore, having obtained help from God, until this day I stand, witnessing both to common [people] and great [people], saying nothing except the things which both the prophets and Moses spoke of as being about to happen,
23
that the Christ was to suffer, that as the first to rise from the dead, He was about to proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles."
24
Now as he spoke these things, Festus said with a loud voice, "You are mad, Paul! Your higher learning is driving you to madness!"
25
But he said, "I am not mad, most excellent Festus, but I boldly declare words of truth and reason.
26
For the king knows about these things, to whom also I speak freely; for I am persuaded that none of these things escapes his notice, since this thing was not done in a corner.
27
"Do you believe the prophets, King Agrippa? I know that you believe."
28
And Agrippa said to Paul, "In a short time, you are persuading me to become a Christian!"
29
And Paul said, "I would pray to God, both in a short time and a long time, not only you, but also all who are hearing me today, would become such as I am, except for these chains."
