And some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth.

But when the sun rose it was scorched, and because it had no root it was withered up.

But if you shall also say, What shall we say before him, and so find the root of the matter in him?

For what is the hope of the ungodly, that he holds to it? Will he indeed trust in the Lord and be saved?

has he any confidence before Him? Or will [God] hear him as he calls upon Him?

"Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men.

And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven.

Then Jesus said to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you abide in My word, truly you are My disciples.

Every branch in Me which does not bear fruit He takes away; and every [branch] which bears fruit He prunes, so that it may bear more fruit.

Abide in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit on its own, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.

If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out like a branch and dries up; and they gather them and throw [them] into the fire, and they are burned.

This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

And their word will spread like gangrene; of whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus,

who have strayed concerning the truth, asserting that the resurrection has already occurred; and they overturn the faith of some.

For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and traveled to Thessalonica--Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but [they went out] in order that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

And blessed is the [one] who is not offended because of Me."

yet he has no root in himself, but is short-lived. For when tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

Then they will hand you over to tribulation and they will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations, on account of My name.

And then many will fall away, and they will betray one another, and they will hate one another.

So then, let him who thinks he stands take heed, lest he should fall!

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation, He will also make the way out, [so as for] you to be able to bear it.

As many as wish to make a good showing in the flesh, these compel you to get circumcised, only so that they should not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.

that no one should be disturbed by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed unto this.

Because of this, when I could no longer endure [it], I sent to learn about your faith, lest somehow the tempter had tempted you, and our labor be in vain.

At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be reckoned to them.

By how much worse punishment, do you think, will he be deemed worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, and has regarded as common the blood of the covenant, by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

Fear none of those things which you are about to suffer. Behold indeed, the devil is about to cast [some] of you into prison, so that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

"I know your works, and where you live, where Satan's throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith in the days in which Antipas was My faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan is dwelling.
