And getting into the boat, He crossed over and went into His own city.

And behold, they were carrying a paralytic to Him lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Have courage, child; your sins are forgiven you."

And at once some of the scribes said among themselves, "This Man blasphemes!"

But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?
5
For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Arise and walk'?
6
But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on the earth to forgive sins"--then He said to the paralytic, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."

And having arisen, he went off to his house.

Now when the crowds saw, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
Luke 5:18-26

And behold, men [were] carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and to lay [him] before Him.
19
And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, going up on the roof, they lowered him down with his bed through the tiles into the midst in front of Jesus.
20
And seeing their faith, He said to him, "Man, your sins have been forgiven you."
21
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this [Man] who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins except God alone?"
22
But when Jesus perceived their reasonings, He answered and said to them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts?
23
Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Arise and walk'?
24
But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--He said to the man who was paralyzed, "I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."

Immediately he rose up before them, taking up [the bed] which he had been lying on, he went off to his own house, glorifying God.
26
And amazement gripped [them] all, and they were glorifying God, and they were filled with fear, saying, "We have seen extraordinary things today!"
