And the Lord God said to Cain, Why are you downcast, and why has your countenance fallen?

And his brothers envied him; but his father observed the saying.

And it seemed evil in the eyes of Saul concerning this matter, and he said, To David they have given ten thousands, and to me they have given thousands?

Wrath is merciless and anger sharp, but envy can bear nothing.

And I saw all labor, and all the diligent work, that this is a man's envy from his neighbor. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.

For he knew that they had handed Him over because of envy.

And the Jews, seeing the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and spoke against the things being said by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, being deceived, being enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

But if you have bitter jealousy and strife in your heart, do not boast and lie against the truth.

For where jealousy and strife [exist], there unrest and every evil deed [are].

Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"?

not as Cain who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his works were evil and the [works] of his brother were righteous.
