And the swine, because this [animal] divides the hoof, and makes claws of the hoof, and it does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.

And as for the swine, because he divides the hoof, and makes claws of the hoof, yet he chews not the cud, he is unclean to you; you shall not eat of their flesh, you shall not touch their dead bodies.

This is the people that provokes Me continually in My presence; they offer sacrifices in gardens, and burn incense on bricks to demons, which exist not.

They lie down to sleep in the tombs and in the caves for the sake of dreams, [even] they that eat swine's flesh, and the broth of [their] sacrifices; all their vessels are defiled;

But the transgressor that sacrifices a calf to Me, is as he that kills a dog; and he that offers fine flour, as [one that offers] swine's blood; he that gives frankincense for a memorial, is as a blasphemer. Yet they have chosen their own ways, and their soul has delighted in their abominations.

Now there was a large herd of pigs feeding there near the mountain.

Now there was a herd of many swine feeding there on the mountain. And they kept imploring Him that He would permit them to enter them. And He permitted them.

Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

And he was longing to fill his stomach with the carob pods which the swine were eating, and no one gave him anything.
