And all the elders of that city who draw near to the slain man shall wash their hands over the head of the heifer which was slain in the valley;

and they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, and our eyes have not seen [it].

For if I should wash myself with snow, and purge myself with pure hands,

You had thoroughly plunged me in filth, and my garment has abhorred me.

I will wash my hands in innocence, and compass Your altar, O Lord;

They said to a tree, You are my father; and to a stone, You have begotten me; and they have turned [their] backs to Me, and not their faces. Yet in the time of their afflictions they will say, Arise, and save us.

Yet you said, I am innocent: only let His wrath be turned away from me. Behold, I [will] plead with you, in that you say, I have not sinned.

saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is [that] to us? You see to it!"

Then was fulfilled the thing spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty [coins], the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the sons of Israel priced,

So when the centurion and those with him guarding Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they were greatly afraid, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!"

Pilate then went out again, and said to them, "Behold, I am bringing Him out to you, so that you may know that I find no fault in Him."

But you denied the Holy and Just One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

For Christ also suffered once to atone for sins, [the] just for [the] unjust, that He might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit,
