Therefore when they had assembled, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you wish [that] I should release to you, Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?"

And if my handmaids have often said, Oh that we might be satisfied with his flesh; (whereas I was very kind:

He hoped in the Lord; let Him deliver Him, let Him save Him, because He takes pleasure in Him.

For You are He that drew Me out of the womb; My hope from My mother's breasts.

Thus says the Lord that delivered you, the God of Israel, Sanctify him that despises his life, him that is abhorred by the nations that are the servants of princes; kings shall behold him, and princes shall arise, and shall worship him, for the Lord's sake; for the Holy One of Israel is faithful, and I have chosen you.

We brought a report as [of] a child before Him; [He is] as a root in a thirsty land; He has no form, nor comeliness; and we saw Him, but He had no form nor beauty.

But His form was ignoble, and inferior to that of the children of men; [He was] a man in suffering, and acquainted with the bearing of sickness, for His face has turned from [us]; He was dishonored, and not esteemed.

And I will cut off three shepherds in one month, and My soul shall grieve over them, for their souls cried out against Me.

Now the chief priests and the whole council were seeking testimony against Jesus, in order to put Him to death, but found none.

But Pilate answered and said to them again, "What then do you desire [that] I should do [with Him] whom you call King of the Jews?"

But Pilate said to them, "Why, what evil did He do?" But they cried out all the more, "Crucify Him!"

Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Jesus, again called out to them.

Then he said to them the third [time], "Why, what evil did He do? I have found no guilt deserving death in Him. Therefore when I have flogged Him, I will release [Him]."

So Pilate decided [that] their request should be carried out.

Now it was the Preparation [Day] of the Passover, and about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, "Behold your King!"

But they cried out, "Away [with Him], away [with Him]! Crucify Him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar!"

Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through this Man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,
