And spitting on Him, they took the reed and were striking [Him] on His head.

And the Lord said to Moses, If her father had only spit in her face, would she not be ashamed seven days? Let her be set apart seven days outside the camp, and afterwards she shall come in.

then his brother's wife shall come forward before the elders, and shall loose one shoe from off his foot, and shall spit in his face, and shall answer and say, Thus shall they do to the man who will not build his brother's house in Israel.

But now I am their music, and they have me for a byword.

For He has opened His quiver and afflicted me: they also have cast off the restraint of my presence.

I gave my back to scourges, and my cheeks to blows; and I turned not away my face from the shame of spitting;

As many shall be amazed at You, so shall Your face be without glory from men, and Your glory [shall not be honored] by the sons of men.

But His form was ignoble, and inferior to that of the children of men; [He was] a man in suffering, and acquainted with the bearing of sickness, for His face has turned from [us]; He was dishonored, and not esteemed.

Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with [their] fists, and to say to Him, "Prophesy!" And the attendants were striking Him with slaps [to the face].

And they were striking His head with a reed and were spitting on Him; and bowing the knee, they [mockingly] worshipped Him.

being defamed, we encourage; we have become as the sweepings of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

looking unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured [the] cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

But I say to you not to resist an evil person. But whoever shall slap you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, What sort of a spirit of the Lord [has] spoken in you?

And he struck him, and cast him into the dungeon which was by the gate of the upper house that was set apart, which was by the house of the Lord.

JOD. He will give his cheek to him that smites him: he will be filled full with reproaches.

AIN. You have set us [alone] in the midst of the nations.

Now the men who were holding Jesus were mocking Him and beating [Him].

And when He had said these things, one of the attendants who stood by slapped Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, "Is this how You answer the high priest?"

And they kept saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they were striking Him with their hands.

But the high priest Ananias commanded those standing by him to strike his mouth.

Then Paul said to him, "God is about to strike you, you whitewashed wall! For you sit judging me according to the law, and contrary to the law do you command that I should be struck?"

For you put up with it if someone enslaves you, if someone devours you, if someone takes from you, if someone exalts himself, if someone strikes you in the face.

To our shame, I say that we were too weak [for that]! But in whatever anyone is bold (I speak foolishly) I am bold also.

Now shall the daughter [of Zion] be completely hedged in: he has laid siege against us: they shall smite the tribes of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
