"Because of this I say to you, do not worry [about] your life--what you shall eat, or what you shall drink--nor [about] your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food and the body [more than] clothing?

And the devil answered and said to the Lord, Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give as a ransom for his life.

Give not sleep to your eyes, nor slumber with your eyelids;

that you may deliver yourself as a doe out of the toils, and as a bird out of a snare.

And let him on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter to take anything out of his house.

And let him who is in the field not return to the things behind, to take his garment.

In that day, [he] who shall be on the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise he who is in the field, let him not turn back for the things [left] behind.

Whoever seeks to save his life shall lose it, and whoever loses his life shall preserve it.

"What I say to you in the dark, say in the light; and what you hear in the ear, proclaim on the housetops.

If you should build a new house, then shall you make a parapet to your house; so you shall not bring blood-guiltiness upon your house, if one should in any way fall from it.
