Matthew 9:9
And as Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, "Follow Me." And arising, he followed Him.
Matthew 21:23-31

Now as He came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people confronted Him as He was teaching, and said, "By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority?"

But Jesus answered and said to them, "I also will ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things:

The baptism of John--where was it from? From heaven or from men?" And they were arguing among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say to us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'

"But if we should say, 'From men,' we fear the crowd, for all consider John as a prophet."
27
So they answered Jesus and said, "We do not know." And He said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
28
"But what do you think? A man had two children. And having come to the first, he said, 'Child, go, work today in my vineyard.'
29
"But he answered and said, 'I will not,' but later he regretted it and went.
30
And having come to the other, he said likewise. And he answered and said, 'I [am going], sir,' but he did not go.
31
Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said to Him, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Assuredly I say to you, that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you.
Luke 19:7-10

But when they saw it, they all were complaining, saying, "He has gone to be a guest with a sinful man."

Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give half of my possessions to the poor; and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I restore fourfold."

And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;

Romans 6:16-22

Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves to whom you obey, whether of sin [resulting] in death, or of obedience [resulting] in righteousness?

But thanks be to God, that though you used to be slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from [your] heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.

And having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.

I speak in human terms on account of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to uncleanness, and to lawlessness [resulting] in [more] lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness [resulting] in sanctification.

For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.

So what fruit did you have then of which [things] you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.

But now having been freed from sin, and having become enslaved to God, you have your fruit [resulting] in sanctification, and the end, eternal life.
