And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.

Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You desire, let us make here three tents: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."

And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah, the [one] who is about to come.

Some of those standing [by], when they heard this, said, "This [Man] is calling Elijah!"

But the rest said, "Leave [Him] alone; let us see if Elijah is coming to save Him."

And, behold, I will send to you Elijah the Tishbite, before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes;

who shall turn again the heart of the father to the son, and the heart of a man to his neighbor, lest I come and smite the earth grievously.

And they asked Him, saying, "Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"

And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No."

And they asked him, saying, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"
