But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

And sighing deeply in His spirit, He said, "Why does this generation seek a sign? Assuredly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation."

For whosoever is ashamed of Me and My words among this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him, whenever He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels."

And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this crooked generation."

[ 2:1] Now the Lord had commanded a great whale to swallow up Jonah; and Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights.

Now as the crowds gathered even more, He began to say, "This generation is evil. It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet.

For just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation.

Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. And if the blind guides the blind, both will fall into a ditch."

[ 6:4] And the Lord God said, My Spirit shall certainly not remain among these men forever, because they are flesh, but their days shall be one hundred and twenty years.

Ephraim, joined with idols, has laid stumbling blocks in his own way.

For even if they should rear their children, yet shall they be utterly bereaved. Wherefore also there is woe to them, [though] My flesh is of them.

Then they began to implore Him to go away from their region.

And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed implored Him that he might be with Him.

But because they were opposing and blaspheming, he shook off his clothes and said to them, "Your blood [be] on your [own] heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles."
