Therefore why have you looked upon My incense offering and My grain offering with a shameless eye, and have honored your sons above Me, so that they should bless themselves with the firstfruits of every sacrifice of Israel before Me?

I have not now called you, O Jacob; neither have I made you weary, O Israel.

saying, When will the month pass away, and we shall sell, and the sabbath, and we shall open the treasure, to make the measure small, and to enlarge the weight, and make the balance unfair?

O My people, what have I done to you? Or wherein have I grieved you? Or wherein have I troubled you? Answer Me.

But some were expressing indignation to one another and saying, "Why has this waste of the perfume occurred?

For it was possible [for] this to be sold for more than three hundred denarii, and to be given to the poor." And they were scolding her.

Then He came and found them sleeping, and He said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Were you not strong [enough] to watch one hour?

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Indeed the spirit is eager, but the flesh is weak."

In that you bring to My altar polluted bread; and you said, In what way have we polluted it? In that you say, The table of the Lord is polluted, and that which was set on it you have despised.

For if you bring a blind [victim] for sacrifices, is it not evil? And if you bring the lame or the sick, [is it] not evil? Offer it now to your ruler, and see if he will receive you, if he will accept your person, says the Lord Almighty.

He shall not eat that which dies of itself, or is taken of beasts, so that he should be polluted by them: I [am] the Lord.

your freewill offerings [shall] be males without blemish of the herds, or of the sheep, or of the goats.

And whatsoever man shall offer a peace-offering to the Lord, discharging a vow, or in the way of freewill offering, or an offering in your feasts, of the herds or of the sheep, it shall be without blemish for acceptance: there shall be no blemish in it.

And a calf or a sheep with the ears cut off, or that has lost its tail, you shall kill them for yourself; but they shall not be accepted for your vow.

And if there be in it a blemish, if it is lame or blind, (an evil blemish) you shall not sacrifice it to the Lord your God.

Then I said, By no means, Lord God of Israel! Surely my soul has not been defiled with uncleanness, nor have I eaten that which has died of itself, or was torn by beasts from my birth until now; neither has any corrupt flesh entered into my mouth.

And the priests shall eat no bird or beast that dies of itself, or is taken of wild beasts.

And these things which I hated, you did: you covered with tears the altar of the Lord, and with weeping and groaning because of troubles: [is it] right [for Me] to have respect for your sacrifice, or to receive [anything] from your hands as welcome?

neither shall you come [with these] to appear before Me; for who has required these things at your hands? You shall no more tread My court.

That is your portion, this is your lot; and to them have you poured forth drink offerings, and to these have you offered meat offerings. Shall I not therefore be angry for these things?

and you murder, and commit adultery, and steal, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and have gone after strange gods whom you know not,

Is My house, which is called by My name, a den of robbers in your eyes? And behold, I have seen [it], says the Lord.

Thus says the Lord, Gather your whole burnt offerings with your grain offerings, and eat flesh.

but I commanded them this thing, saying, Hear My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all My ways which I shall command you, that it may be well with you.

I hate, I reject your feasts, and I will not smell your grain offerings in your general assemblies.

Remove from Me the sound of your songs, and I will not hear the music of your instruments.

Speak to the whole people of the land, and to the priests, saying, Though you fasted or lamented in the fifth or seventh [months] (yea, behold, these seventy years) have you at all fasted to Me?

And if you eat or drink, do you not eat and drink for yourselves?

"Take care not to be doing your charitable giving before men, so as to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have not a reward from your Father in heaven.

Whenever therefore you do charitable giving, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be praised by men. Assuredly I say to you, they receive their reward in full.

"And whenever you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues, and on the streetcorners, so that they may be seen by men. Assuredly I say to you, that they receive their reward in full.

"Moreover, when you fast, do not become gloomy, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men [to be] fasting. Assuredly I say to you, that they receive their reward in full.
