And the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.

And the city was broken up, and all the men of war went forth by night, by the way of the gate between the walls (this is [the gate] of the king's garden). And the Chaldeans [were set] against the city round about; and [the king] went by the way of the plain.

And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the city was penetrated.

on the ninth day of the month, and [then] the famine was severe in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.

And the city was broken up, and all the men of war went out by night by the way of the gate, between the wall and the outworks, which were by the king's garden. And the Chaldeans were by the city round about; and they went by the way [leading] to the wilderness.

speaking to the priests that were in the house of the Lord Almighty, and to the prophets, saying, The holy offering has come in here in the fifth month, as it has done already many years.

And in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nabuzaradan the captain of the guard, who waited on the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem;

And the army of the Chaldeans that was with the captain of the guard pulled down all the wall of Jerusalem round about.

Speak to the whole people of the land, and to the priests, saying, Though you fasted or lamented in the fifth or seventh [months] (yea, behold, these seventy years) have you at all fasted to Me?

And it came to pass in the seventh month [that] Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of the royal family came, and ten men with him, and he struck and killed Gedaliah, [him] and the Jews and the Chaldeans that were with him in Mizpah.

Now it came to pass in the seventh month that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama of the royal family came, and ten men with him, to Gedaliah to Mizpah. And they ate bread there together.

and all the Jews that were with him in Mizpah, and all the Chaldeans that were found there.

And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the ninth month, on the tenth day of the month, [that] Nebuchadnezzr king of Babylon came, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and they made a rampart round it, and built a wall round about it with large stones.

in every city and province wherever the ordinance was published: wherever the proclamation took place, the Jews had joy and gladness, feasting and mirth. And many of the Gentiles were circumcised, and became Jews, for fear of the Jews.

for on these days the Jews obtained rest from their enemies. And [as to] the month, which was Adar, in which a change was made for them, from mourning to joy, and from sorrow to a good day, to spend the whole of it [in] good days of feasting and gladness, sending portions to their friends, and to the poor.

You have turned my mourning into joy for me; You have removed my sackcloth, and have clothed me with gladness;

And in that day you shall say, I [will] bless You, O Lord; for You were angry with me, but You have turned aside Your wrath, and have pitied me.

and shall return, and come to Zion with joy, and everlasting joy [shall be] over their head; for on their head [shall be] praise and exaltation, and joy shall take possession of them; sorrow and pain, and groaning have fled away.

For by [the help of] the Lord they shall return, and come to Zion with joy and everlasting exaltation, for praise and joy shall come upon their head; pain, grief, and groaning have fled away.

And they shall come, and shall rejoice in the mount of Zion, and shall come to the good things of the Lord, to a land of wheat, and wine, and fruits, and cattle, and sheep. And their soul shall be as a fruitful tree; and they shall hunger no more.

Then shall the virgins rejoice in the assembly of youth, and the old men shall rejoice; and I will turn their mourning into joy, and will make them merry.

These are the things which you shall do: speak truth everyone with his neighbor; judge truth and peaceable judgment in your gates:

to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear,

in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.

For the saving grace of God has appeared to all men,

teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

But outside are dogs and drug users and fornicators and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices a lie.
