And the shipmaster came to him, and said to him, Why do you snore? Arise, and call upon your God, that God may save us, and we perish not.

And they cried to the Lord, and said, Forbid it, Lord: let us not perish for the sake of this man's life, and bring not righteous blood upon us: for You, O Lord, have done as You willed.

And the men feared the Lord very greatly, and offered a sacrifice to the Lord, and vowed vows.

And they took the bull and dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning till noon, and said, hear us, O Baal, hear us. And there was no voice, neither was there hearing, and they ran up and down on the alter which they had made.

And the rest he makes a graven god, and worships and prays, saying, Deliver me; for you are my god.

And one has not considered in his mind, nor known in his understanding, that he has burned up half of it in the fire, and baked loaves on its coals and has roasted and eaten flesh, and of the rest of it he has made an abomination, and they worship it.

Assemble yourselves and come; take counsel together, you that escape from the nations. They that set up wood, [even] their graven image, have no knowledge, nor do they who pray to gods that do not save.

And where are your gods which you have made for yourself? Will they arise and save [you] in the time of your affliction? For according to the number of your cities were your gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem they sacrificed to Baal.

And their hearts did not cry to Me, but they howled on their beds: they pined for oil and wine.

And the devil answered and said to the Lord, Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give as a ransom for his life.

And because we were exceedingly tempest-tossed, the next day they lightened the ship.

And on the third day we threw off the equipment of the ship with our own hands.

And having eaten enough, they began lightening the ship and throwing out the wheat into the sea.

But such things as were gain to me, these I have considered loss for the sake of Christ.

More than that I also consider all things to be loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have sustained the loss of all things, and I consider them to be rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ

[ 24:4] And he came to the flocks of sheep that were by the way, and there was a cave there. And Saul went in to make preparation, and David and his men were sitting in the inner part of the cave.

And Delilah made Sampson sleep upon her knees. And she called a man, and he shaved the seven locks of his head, and she began to humble him, and his strength departed from him.

But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.

Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What? Were you not strong [enough] to watch with Me one hour?

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Indeed the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

And He came and found them sleeping again, for their eyes were heavy.

Then He came to His disciples and said to them, "Sleep now, and rest. Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.

And rising up from prayer, coming to the disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow.

Then He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise up and pray, lest you enter into temptation."
