But you, O Israel, be not ignorant, and go not to Gilgal, O [men of] Judah, and go not up to the house of On, and swear not by the living Lord.

and them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and swear by the Lord, and them that swear by their king;

And your sin which you had made, the calf, I took [it], and I burned it with fire, and pounded it and ground it down till it became fine; and it became like dust, and I cast the dust into the brook that descended from the mountain.

And the king took counsel, and went, and made two golden heifers, and said to the people, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold, [here are] your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

And he put one in Bethel, and he put the other in Dan.

And Jeroboam appointed a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, according to the feast in the land of Judah;

but have returned, and eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which He spoke to you, saying, You shall not eat bread, and shall not drink water; [therefore] your body shall by no means enter into the tomb of your fathers.

And a lion found him on the road, and killed him; and his body was cast out in the road, and the donkey was standing by it, and the lion [also] was standing by the body.

And [the prophet] that turned him back out of the road heard, and said, This is the man of God who rebelled against the word of the Lord.

And he went and found the body cast in the road, and the donkey and the lion were standing by the body. And the lion had not devoured the body of the man of God, and had not torn the donkey.

and they mourned over him, [saying], Alas, brother.

For the word will surely come to pass which he spoke by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel, and against the high houses in Samaria.

And this thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to its destruction and its removal from the face of the earth.

And Omri bought the mount of Samaria from Shemer the lord of the mountain for two talents of silver; and he built [upon] the mountain, and they called the name of the mountain [on] which he built, after the name of Shemer the lord of the mount, Samaria.

Nevertheless Jehu departed not from following the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who led Israel to sin: [these were] the golden heifers in Bethel and in Dan.

Cast off your calf, O Samaria; My anger is kindled against them: how long will they be unable to purge themselves in Israel?

Seeing the workman made it, and it is not God; for your calf, O Samaria, was a deceiver.

The inhabitants of Samaria shall dwell near the calf of the house of On; for the people of it mourned for it. And as they provoked Him, they shall rejoice at His glory, because He has departed from them.

And now they have sinned increasingly, and have made for themselves a molten image of their silver, according to the fashion of idols, the work of artificers accomplished for them. they say, Sacrifice men, for the calves have come to an end.

Samaria shall be utterly destroyed, for she has resisted her God; they shall fall by the sword, and their sucklings shall be dashed against the ground, and their women and children ripped up.

and requested from him letters [of authority] to the synagogues of Damascus, that if he should find any who were of the Way, both men or women, he might bring them, having been bound, to Jerusalem.

This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things about the Lord, although he knew only the baptism of John.

But when some became hardened and disbelieving, speaking evil against the Way before the multitude, he withdrew from them and separated the disciples, each day debating in the school of a certain Tyrannus.

Now there arose during that time a serious disturbance concerning the Way.

But I confess this to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing in all things which are written throughout the Law and in the Prophets,

Bless his substance, O Lord, and accept the works of his hands; break the loins of his enemies that have risen up against him, and let not them that hate him rise up.

Nevertheless they sneered at His messengers, and despised His words, and mocked His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose up against His people, till there was no remedy.

There the workers of iniquity have fallen; they are cast out, and shall not be able to stand.

Coals of fire shall fall upon them on the earth; and You shall cast them down in afflictions; they shall not bear up [under them].

A reprover is better than a stiff-necked man, for when the latter is suddenly set on fire, there shall be no remedy.

who brought forth chariots and horse, and a mighty multitude; but they have laid down, and shall not rise; they are extinct, as quenched flax.

And you shall say to them, Thus said the Lord Almighty: Drink, and be drunk; and you shall vomit and fall, and shall by no means rise, because of the sword which I send among you.

and shall say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and not rise, because of the evils which I bring upon it.
