You shall not do according to the devices of Egypt, in which you dwelt: and according to the devices of the land of Canaan, into which I bring you, you shall not do; and you shall not walk in their ordinances.

Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for in all these things the nations are defiled, which I drove out before you,

And you shall keep My ordinances, that you may not do any of the abominable practices, which have taken place before your time; and you shall not be polluted in them; for I [am] the Lord your God.

take heed to yourself that you seek not to follow them after they are destroyed before you, saying, How do these nations act towards their gods? I will do likewise.

You shall not do so to your God; for they have sacrificed to their gods the abominations of the Lord which He hates, for they burn their sons and their daughters in fire to their gods.

Hear the word of the Lord, which He has spoken to you, O house of Israel.

Thus says the Lord: Learn not the ways of the heathen, and be not alarmed at the signs of the sky; for they are alarmed at them, [falling] on their faces.

(for all these abominations the men of the land did who were before you, and the land was defiled,)

Not for your righteousness, nor for the holiness of your heart, do you go in to inherit their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations, the Lord shall destroy them from before you, and that He may establish the covenant, which the Lord swore to our fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

God heard and lightly regarded [them], and greatly despised Israel.

And I will cut off three shepherds in one month, and My soul shall grieve over them, for their souls cried out against Me.
