So Daniel went into his house, and made known the matter to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his friends.

And though these three men should be in the midst of it, Noah, Daniel, and Job, they [alone] would be delivered by their righteousness, says the Lord.

and should Noah, Daniel, and Job be in the midst of it, [as] I live, says the Lord, there shall be left [them] neither sons nor daughters; [only] they by their righteousness shall deliver their souls.

Are you wiser than Daniel? Or have not the wise instructed you with their knowledge?

"Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand),

"So whenever you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where he must not"--he who reads, let him understand--"then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
