Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him: You have become like a lion among the nations, and as a serpent that is in the sea; and you made assaults with your rivers, and troubled the waters with your feet, and trampled your rivers.

And they shall take up a lamentation for you, and shall say to you, How are you destroyed from out of the sea, O renowned city, that brought her terror upon all her inhabitants!

And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son.

And the king mourned over Abner, and said, Shall Abner die according to the death of Nabal?

Your hands were not bound, and your feet [were] not [put] in fetters; [one] brought [you] not near as Nabal; you have fallen before children of iniquity.

And Jeremiah mourned over Josiah, and all the chief men and chief women uttered a lamentation over Josiah until this day. And they made it an ordinance for Israel, and behold, it is written in the lamentations.

Thus says the Lord, Call the mourning women, and let them come; and send to the wise women, and let them utter their voice;
