By your abundant knowledge and your traffic you have multiplied your power; your heart has been lifted up by your power.

Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; your knowledge has been corrupted by your beauty: because of the multitude of your sins I have cast you to the ground, I have caused you to be put to open shame before kings.

Therefore thus says the Lord: Because you have grown great, and have set your top in the midst of the clouds, and I saw when he was exalted;

[that] you should be exalted in your heart, and forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

And when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction; and he transgressed against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Before ruin a man's heart is exalted, and before honor it is humble.

For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon everyone that is proud and haughty, and upon everyone that is high and lifted up, and they shall be brought down;

And you accordingly, his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart before God: do you not know all this?

And you have exalted yourself against the Lord God of heaven; and they have brought before you the vessels of His house, and you, your nobles, your mistresses, and your concubines have drunk wine out of them; and you have praised the gods of gold, silver, brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, and which hear not, and know not: and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.

If he should draw back, My soul has no pleasure in him: but the just shall live by My faith.

not a new convert, lest being puffed up [with pride] he fall into [the same] condemnation as the devil.

Likewise, younger [people], subject yourselves to [the] elders. And all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility, because "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

Therefore thus says the Lord: Since you have set your heart as the heart of God;

Will you indeed say, I am God, before them that slay you? Seeing you are man, and not God.

[ 3:6] For God knew that in whatever day you should eat of it, your eyes would be opened, and you would be as gods, knowing good and evil.

And the populace was calling out, "[This is the] voice of a god and not of a man!"

Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And becoming eaten by worms, he died.

And he led me away in [the] Spirit, into a deserted [place]. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast being filled with names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Son of man, take up a lamentation for the prince of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord God: You were a seal of resemblance, and a crown of beauty.

From the day that you were created you [were] with the cherub; I set you on the holy mount of God; you were in the midst of the stones of fire.

But you have said in your heart, I will go up to heaven, I will set my throne above the stars of heaven; I will sit on a lofty mount, on the lofty mountains toward the north;

I will go up above the clouds; I will be like the Most High.

the king answered and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for a royal residence, by the might of my power, for the honor of my glory?

While the word was yet in the king's mouth, there came a voice from heaven, [saying], King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken, The kingdom has departed from you.

who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or [every] object of worship, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

and you shall say to Tyre that dwells at the entrance of the sea, to the merchant of the nations coming from many islands, Thus says the Lord to Tyre: You have said, I have clothed myself with my beauty.

In the heart of the sea your sons have put beauty upon you for Beelim.

The rowers have brought you into great waters. The south wind has broken you in the heart of the sea.

Your forces and your gain, and that of your traders and your rowers, and your pilots and your counselors, and they that traffic with you, and all your warriors that are in you; and all your company in the midst of you shall perish in the heart of the sea, in the day of your fall.

Will you indeed say, I am God, before them that slay you? Seeing you are man, and not God.

Appoint, O Lord, a lawgiver over them: let the heathen know that they are men. Pause.

He shall come down as rain upon a fleece, and as drops falling upon the earth.

In His days shall righteousness spring up; and abundance of peace till the moon be removed.

[even] an Egyptian, a man, and not God; the flesh of horses, and there is no help [in them]; but the Lord shall bring His hand upon them, and the helpers shall fail, and all shall perish together.

Therefore thus says the Lord: Since you have set your heart as the heart of God;

who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or [every] object of worship, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
